The first impression created after reading the content of the article was that it generalized the problems faced by young adults. The picture painted by the article was that the "twixters" were a lazy group of people in the society who feared taking responsibility for their own lives by refusing to settle down and start their own families. A lot of bias and fault is directed to the young adults, and the community is failing to observe and understand that tough economic conditions and change in the way of life could be the cause of growing "twixter" trend. Many reasons have been given to explain the reasons for delayed settling down among youths. Examples of reasons are; twixters taking long years in school learning, and diluted education quality which do not match job requirement. The reasons and explanations are elaborate and sensible in trying to evaluate the twixter crisis in the world.

Any individual from the age of 25 and above who has finished education and is yet to give a thought in starting a family can be referred to be a twixter. A good example can be that of a full grown individual who is above thirty years of age and still lives with his or her parents. Such individuals deem fit to be called twixters because they exhibit the following characteristics. Firstly, their mode of dressing rivals that of teenagers. They "refuse" to mature and spend most of their time partying, having fun and binge drinking without a care of doing anything constructive with their lives. Secondly, such individuals find it hard to keep jobs. They hop from one job to another job and they do not pay attention to developing meaningful work relationships and building career networks. When accepting jobs, twixters always appear to have made an informed decision in the back of their mind of not wanting to work in one organization for the rest of their professional career lives. Thirdly, these young adults do not take their dating life seriously. They hop from one date to the next and do not invest deeply in their relationships. Hoping from date to date explains the reason why it becomes difficult for them to settle down and start families. Twixters also finds it difficult to have their own homes and prefer moving from one rented apartment to another.

Individuals that have attained the age of thirty qualify to be called young adults. Some of the markers used to classify the young adults are relevant and applicable to individuals who have attained the age of thirty. Individuals at this age are expected to have finished their school and probably attained their first degree, having a definable source of income or a job, and probably have moved from their parents' homes. However, some markers are not applicable to every early adult who has attained the age of thirty years. Tough economic times and changing cultural and societal norms have made it difficult for individuals to settle down through marriages and even have their first child.

It has become hard for individuals to find well-paying jobs with just a first degree. Getting a college degree is not lucrative like it used to be in the earlier decades. The job market is flooded, and early adults are forced to go back to school and attain professional degrees to remain competitive in the job market. Going back to school takes a lot of time and years thereby making it difficult for them to start families early. The salaries and wages offered to college degree holders are minimal hence making it difficult for young adults to become financially independent. With the little income, it becomes difficult for young adults to move out of their parent's homes and buy their own homes. Low salaries and wages also makes it impossible for young adults to be able to start and support their families. The twixters, therefore, hop from job to job with the hope of finding a job that is well paying and which offers better benefits that will enable them to adequately support their families. Furthermore, twixters are choosy when taking job offers; they want jobs that are aligned to their calling and provides an expression of their identity and purpose. Their choosy attitude towards jobs makes it impossible for twixters to gain financial independence earlier in life thereby prolonging the time they decide to start families and settle down.

Twixters find it hard at times to move from their parent's home because of a number of reasons which are not under their control. One of the reasons is that they think that the college education they acquired was theoretical and not practical. The education system failed to impart skills that match those demanded in the job market. Devoid of job skills, the twixters find themselves unemployable, and thus it becomes difficult for them to be financially independent. Though educated and learned, twixters are usually reluctant to look for jobs which will help in advancing their careers. The twixters hide under the blanket of their parents, who provide for their every basic financial need. The resultant effect of hiding under the protective hands of parents makes twixters irresponsible and unable to take charge of their own lives. The behavior of twixters is sometimes largely contributed to the actions and behaviors of their parents. Parents sometimes become overly protective of their children by influencing and scrutinizing every life decision they make. Overprotectiveness of parents bars children from taking significant career risks in their lives thus remaining fully dependable on their parents for help even after becoming young adults.
