Summary 

The article Hip Hop in History: Past, Present, and Future tresses the origins of high from its earlier stages. First, the author acknowledges the equal importance of Hip Hop music as the Jazz and blues music used by black to fight for their civil rights. It uses less of the educational articles available from the 1980s. It manages to track its roots from the Bronx in New York City. The author goes ahead giving us the elements that are identified with the Hip Hop culture. These elements were both physical and a state which groups certain people with a common quest for their community to be recognized. Other early authors relate Hip Hop with Africans American as they tried to explore their African side. Also, they analyzed most lyrics from this music genre which mostly addressed oppression they face in their lives. The minor groups in America used this platform to raise their issues and create their success. 

Analysis 

Since Hip Hop was established by one of the minority groups in America, its lyrical influence made it grew in popularity in the 1980s. Hence some scholars started conducting studies on it starting with its elements and associations. Hip Hop was categorized with other civil rights songs like blues and Jazz in the early 20 th century. They also cite these music genres and other African aspects as the significant influence of the formation of Hip Hop music as a significant genre. With the aim of understanding Hip Hop music, the author's interview Hip Hoppers trying to understand why they associate themselves with graffiti, break dancing and rapping. Additionally, they also decided to follow the influences that shaped the current Hip Hop industry as they try to anticipate the future of Hip Hop music and culture. Also, the authors attempted to establish the role of each member like women in the minority community in advancing this music genre.
