Decision making is a complex process. There are multiple factors that individuals need to consider as they make decisions. Culture is one of these factors. To ensure that the needs of communities from different cultural backgrounds are met is among the issues that necessitate cultural considerations. In the reading, it is suggested that decisions regarding human rights need to consider cultural dynamics if the world is to adopt a common position on these rights (Connolly & Ward, 2007). Essentially, the reading indicates that cultural considerations allow communities to feel that their identities, practices and beliefs are acknowledged. Cultural considerations allow for the development of solutions and interventions that are effective (Hawley & Morris, 2017). This is especially true for decision making in healthcare. For effective interventions to be developed and administered, patients must be assured that practitioners respect their culture.

Another role that cultural considerations play is that they help to create a climate of trust and confidence (Connolly & Ward, 2007). Essentially, when stakeholders in the decision making process feel that their cultures are being respected and integrated into the process, they are more likely to be cooperative. Perhaps the greatest impact that cultural considerations have on decision making is that they allow for support to be secured. As already noted, decision making is a collaborative exercise. It can only be conducted successfully when all stakeholders are involved. Stakeholders are likely to offer their full support and collaboration when they are convinced that their cultures are respected. For example, there are some countries that reject the Western notion of human rights. These countries feel that the West is imposing its own ideals without considering the cultures of the countries. The failure by the West to convince these nations to adopt its vision of human rights underscores the importance of cultural considerations. Since cultures are integral component of decision making, organizations should strive to incorporate them into their decision making structures and process.
