Employees form the basic component of an organization. This is an indication that their contributions towards an organization should be rewarded, as a form of motivation. According to Zeglat et al, an organization is obliged to utilize the human resource factor, in return by offering incentives, as part of the motivation to drive its success (Zeglat, 2017). The aspect of competition as a result of evolving business environment has brought about the need to retain productive employees through motivation. This is a sign that employee motivation directly impacts the success of an organization, by beating off competition as a result of quality and motivated human resource.
Employee motivation varies from one factor to the other. I believe that both salary and incentives that are non-monetary are essential in motivating employees in an organization. Firstly, motivation in terms of salary increment positively motivates employees, by ensuring that all of their personal needs are met. In return, when an employee has met all her demands, they can avoid stress and be more productive. This further helps in employee retainment, preventing them from being convinced by competitors that offer high salaries. Secondly, non-monetary motivations such as positive environment are essential. Conducive environment for an employee will positively impact on their work rate since, a positive environment provides an ideal condition in ensuring that employees work with much ease.
