Interacting with self-absorbed individuals poses numerous challenges. Irrespective of whether it is a partner, friend, or colleague at work, these persons demonstrate astonishing selfishness levels, thereby creating straining relationships anywhere they go. The reason for this is that the relationships that they establish revolve around give and take in line with looking out for other individuals. These serve as the key issues self-obsessed individuals face challenges to address. Things usually become increasingly problematic with self-obsession transforming to narcissism, which serves as an intense kind of selfishness. Egoistical obsession with aspirations, self, individual interests, success, and needs lie at the center of severe narcissism. A certain degree of straightforward narcissism is healthy mostly because it allows individuals to take care of themselves responsibly. However, when it turns into egoistical preoccupation, it ends up hurting the relationships that a person has with others (Vicelich, 2018) . Thus, egoism and excessive self-love lead to self-obsession; however, the precipitating cause is narcissism.

Narcissists live in a fantasy world that supports their delusions of being grand. These individuals are thoughtful of themselves overly. They exaggerate the things that they have accomplished while utilizing astute approaches of making themselves feel outstanding. They usually exploit and manipulate other people while rationalizing their actions in an effort of making them avoid blame or accountability. In case narcissists do not receive praise, they wait or plan for a different time they would be praised. These people usually focus on telling other individuals of their goodness, such as how they aided a needy colleague at work while avoiding giving details of where they required the coworker to return the favor. Narcissists are skilled at identifying wrongs and rights. When they perform a wrongful act, they tweak it to allow them appear right (Joiner, 2017) . In case they engage in conflicts with other people, the narcissists usually tell the story differently in order to receive praise.

Self-obsessed individuals seek other individuals’ attention while they are reliably able to find ways of talking of themselves when they commence feeling unimportant and neglected. Other persons describe individuals with NPD as selfish, controlling, difficult, and patronizing. This kind of behavior and means of thinking prevails in each area of life of a narcissist ranging from friendships to work to love as well as family relationships. Persons having NPD show significant resistance in altering their behavior even while it lands them into problems. They mostly focus on directing blame to other persons. Additionally, they are increasingly sensitive while react severely even to minor disagreements, criticisms or things they regard as personal attacks (Joiner, 2017) . These people might have lacked love when they were young while feeling that they have the right for receiving love. In doing so, they emphasize on this requirement. They perceive the love that they receive as a scarce resource. They are afraid of sharing love since they fear that they would lack sufficient love on their end. In this case, it is vital to note that paying sufficient attention to needs and wants is crucial for all people. However, in the event that persons are feeling considerable nervous or bad concerning themselves, they experience worry on ways that other individuals perceive them (Kluger, 2015) . When people indulge deep thoughts regarding their specialness, they end up descending into poisonous self-obsession, which is harmful to their wellbeing and the relationships that they have with others.
