In workplaces, it is common for some of the employees and employers to have variances in decisions made. Personally, in the workplace, recently, a new employee has been dissenting with my opinions. However, the employee is very good and skillful at his work. As a leader, I have to become adept at responding to dissenters, thus reestablish unity and a common understanding among the workforce.
Firstly, there is a need to avoid ignorance. In this case, I should be in a position to dissent over unpopular decisions. These decisions may be of logical significance to a business; however, they can result in a full-on revolt if they are not addressed with concern. Therefore, as a leader, no matter how the employee dissents with the workplace's decisions, I should stand out and face what he has and, thus, work it out together as a team. Hence, the employee will be satisfied as he will feel like his opinions are being acted upon.

Secondly, there is avoiding escalation. In this case, in every conversation I have with employees at the workplace, I should do everything I can to ensure that the talks are constructive. No matter how angry one may be, it is essential to maintain a pleasant mood; thus, it will prevent arising of negativities, which may result in incoherent decisions.
Thirdly, there is applying empathy. Empathy implies that one acknowledges and takes into consideration another party's opinion. However, empathy does not mean that one has fully to agree; instead, I should act in a manner that will suggest that both my points and the employee's points are valid. Thus, this is beneficial as it will help keep a dialogue constructive hence no one will be accused of being unfair.
Conclusively, remembering my position is another appropriate way of dealing with dissent. When confronted with an objecting decision from the employee, I need to stop, listen, and think before giving out a reaction. I have to be in a position to explain to the employee why the decisions were made and the impacts that they will have at the workplace. Thus, this will prevent unnecessary answers that usually come up during heat moments.
