After studying the reading on stress and health, I realized that I am not free from stress. Besides, I noticed that I have been through several types of stress, especially in my academic life. From high school to college, the move from high school brought about several discomforts, which I did not notice early enough, to define them as stress and deal with them accordingly.
First, the departure from close family members and high school and childhood friends posed a challenge to sharing my college life hurdles with was a stressful moment. Additionally, finding friends whom I would trust with personal challenges from total strangers was another headache. The complex college studies, failing in assessment tests and examinations led me to depression for quite some time. Academic pressure notably lowered my self-esteem. I lost appetite and lacked sleep for a couple of weeks. The more I advanced in college, the more different stress levels hit me, such as failed relationships, friends passing away, and continuous academic pressure.

To curb stress and maintain a healthy lifestyle, the first one needs to be optimistic and positive in all situations. There is a need to always focus more on positivity than being pessimistic. Additionally, accepting what cannot be changed and what has already happened (Mental Health America [MHA], 2021). Avoiding comparisons and lowering expectations are also great strategies. Besides, eating a healthy balanced diet regularly and exercising are perfect for good health and refreshing the mind.
Embracing my mistakes, failures, and imperfections boost my self-esteem and pick me up for the next level (Mindful Awareness Research Centre [MARC], 2021). Having a positive mind on academics will encourage me to study more and be more active socially and interactive. Approaching academic life with minimum comparisons and expectations will lower the stress if I do not excel as thought—the positive reviews in mindset the soul free from anguish and boost self-confidence and esteem. Consequently, the body grows healthy and more immune.
