When addressing different classes of audiences in various contexts such as home, church, school, nightclub, zoo, or a dome, it is necessary to adapt the speech to suit each of all these different settings. For the sake of knowing how to address a certain setting, I would start by conducting an audience analysis in all the five settings. I can achieve the audience analysis through five ways. The five ways include: identifying the audience, identifying the audience expectations, understanding the topic and establishing an attitude towards it, determining the size of the audience, and finally, understanding the audience demographics.

After being able to analyze the audience, it can now be easy to speak to audiences within all the mentioned settings. In a home context, the most likely listeners are the parents, siblings, and friends. The expectation of a home audience is less formal than the audience at a public gathering. Since the size of the home audience is also likely to be small, I can use a common language in my speech and also do it while sitting down. I would also consider the demographics of the audience because addressing parents requires more etiquette as compared to addressing siblings.

In a school setting, I can adapt my speech to fit various aspects. The way I can address the tutors differs with the way I can address my classmates. I can use a sense of humor when speaking to my classmates, but I cannot do so when speaking to the tutors. The reason why I would address the instructors in a different way from the classmates is the diversity in demographic factors. Tutors have a higher level of education than the classmates. Another thing is that tutors have a bigger age span than the classmates. The cultures of both sets of audiences also differ. With all those factors in mind, I can even entertain questions from the classmates. However, I would wish that tutors do not ask questions because they are on a higher level than me almost in every aspect.

When addressing a church, the first idea that would come to my mind is that my audience is spiritual. For this reason, I would try as much as possible to avoid being secular in my speech and toe along a religious line. I would use Biblical examples whenever I want to drive a point home. Demographic factors in a church public speaking matter less because a church is one body that is unified by the Christian faith. Body language can play a vital role in this setting. For this reason, I would be smartly-dressed and pose a figure of humility during my speech.

When addressing an audience in a dome, I would ensure that I prepare very well beforehand. I can prepare through anticipating the questions the audience can ask depending on the topic of the speech. Another way that I can prepare is the dressing mode. In a dome setting, the audience is reserved with seats in most cases. For this reason, the audience is likely to be very attentive. I would therefore rehearse before I get to the stage where I am likely to address the audience.

When it comes to addressing an audience in a zoo setting, much preparation is not required in this case. Much preparation is unnecessary because a zoo is a very informal setting. The only thing I would wish to learn beforehand is a little bit of zoo jargon so that I can use it in giving examples in my speech.

Finally, when addressing a nightclub audience, the only thing that I need to know is the topic of the speech. A nightclub is so disorganized that preparing in advance would be futile. The audience in a nightclub is also not ready to listen to jargons. For this reason, I would use simple language to address this audience and do so in a calm manner.
