The Public Service Announcement (PSA) seeks to create a feeling of delightfulness in the audiences as they watch the great impact that a friend is capable of making. In most cases, people suffering from severe mental illness are stigmatized but in this case, the friend appears to be doing their best to edify the happiness of the ill person. In most cases, the media portrays a person with mental illness as being out of control and violent (Corrigan, Mueser, Bond, Drake & Solomon, 2012). This is part of what the video seeks to underscore.
Concurrently, descriptive stimuli has been used as a strategy in this case. Throughout the entire film, there are constant references appearing on the screen describing the happenings. Secondly, visual effects have been used, depicting the behavior of both characters. Moreover, another strategy utilized is the emotional response, whose sole purpose is to captivate the audience.

This PSA is very effective towards creating more tolerant public attitudes toward people with mental illness. The idea that the person is capable of tolerating his friend who is suffering from severe mental illness and play around with him, just shows how people can easily interact with such a person. It manages to break the idea of stigmatization, by making the audience understand that it is not necessarily true that a person suffering from mental illness is violent.

The main message of this PSA is to sensitize people on the importance of changing their minds regarding mental illness. It seeks to create a feeling of hope and understanding. The audience get to gain more knowledge on the existence of severely mentally ill around them. Besides, by observing the support they receive from family members and friends, it becomes possible to view such illnesses are normal. Also, the people suffering from the illness as depicted by the PSA appear perfectly normal.
Various persuasive strategies have been utilized in this PSA. For instance, visual illustrations appears everywhere in the short film. There are markings on the t-shirts worn by the various participants indicating their illnesses and also those helping them deal with the occurrence. Also, the idea of using many participants is another strategy which succeeds in showing that people with severe mental illness exist among other individuals in the society, and that it would not be easy to single them out.
This PSA is very persuasive in creating more tolerant public attitudes toward people with mental illness, especially since it portrays the severely mentally ill as normal people. One can observe that such people walk and live amongst them and are not restrained in enclosed surroundings. In this case, the audience learns to embrace a severely mentally ill person like they do any other individual. There is also a potential for misidentifying an ill person (Corrigan et al., 2012). This has clearly been shown in the PSA, since no one would imagine that the people with t-shirts bearing the illnesses labeled on them could be suffering from such illnesses.
Schizo: 90 (Bring Change 2 Mind`s Second PSA)
The message in this film is on the idea of people changing their perception towards severe mental illness. The audience is at first treated to a chilling scene as they brace themselves for the worst. This feeling of fear is something that the PSA seeks to create before showing them what the reality is like. The first scary scene intends to show what people`s perception towards mentally ill individuals is like whereas, what follows is a clear depiction of the reality of it all.
Shock treatment is the first technique utilized, whereby the audience experiences a frightening scene as the PSA begins. It conforms to the widely held perceptions on people with mental illness. In the same sense the emotional appeal technique is used in the same scene with an intention of evoking fear in the viewer. The bandwagon appeal method finalizes the PSA as people are encouraged to extend the same treatment to others as the one being accorded to the person who has been suffering from schizophrenia for the 11 years.
This PSA is arguably very effective in creating tolerant public attitudes toward people with mental illness. After observing that the person living with schizophrenia for up to 11 years is still leading a normal life with others around him, the audience tends to get a positive perception about such people. All the negative misconceptions are, therefore, eliminated completely. It is apparent that self-stigma is capable of being influenced by a person`s decision on whether to disclose their mental health experience (Corrigan et al., 2012). This is what the person suffering from schizophrenia has managed to do in this PSA.
