It is my dream to assist people who are going through the greatest challenges in their lives be the best version of themselves in spite of the challenges and in some cases because of those challenges. My informed opinion is that the greatest challenge in life comes when one faces a serious and debilitating illness. As such times, the challenge and the individual become intertwined. The primary champion for the invalid and loved ones is the nursing officer who not only provides the necessary clinical care but also invaluable advice and a shoulder to lean on during calamitous times. It is to attain this goal that I left my home country of Nigeria, the grandest nation in Africa and came to the USA, arguably the greatest nation in the world. I intend to acquire a bachelor’s degree from a great nursing school as a stepping stone towards the aforementioned goal.
What I intend to do with my life is, however, not the full total of who I am as I also have definitive personal characteristics. For a start, I am biologically male, which is also the gender that I identify with. Being a man is an important obligation in my culture and I intend to play a positive role in both my family and community. However, I am not actively conservative hence I have an open mind towards the fluid gender roles of the modern world. As with most Nigerians, I am an avid lover of what we call football back at home or soccer here in Nigeria. I not only love playing this beautiful game but also spectating in major tournaments. Conversely, I am a student in a nursing school, a fact that has made my daily life not only interesting but also very fulfilling. Academically, I love general physics, more so how scientific phenomenon explains the day to day mysteries. I believe that a combination of who I am as an individual, my professional affiliations and personal interests will drive me into being a productive global citizen.
