Topic 3 DQ 1

What position were you interviewing applicants for?

Significantly, the company was looking for an accountant to replace a retiree who had left behind a legacy of company debt.

What tasks was the new recruit supposed to play?

The recruit would, upon hiring, help create and present a report on company profits and losses made in the previous years. This suggestion means that the employee would compile the company's financial records. The account would also enable the disbursement of salaries to employee's accounts.

How many candidates came to the interview?

Only five out of the possible 20 candidates came for the interview. This statement means that the company lost resources and time due to over budgeting in payment of interviewers.

How many had qualifications and knowledge of the position?

In essence, none of the five candidates showed valuable knowledge about accounting. However, they all had credentials needed indicating their academic qualification.

What was the decision of the panel?

Due to the inability to get a suitable candidate for the job, the panel decided to hold recruitment. This fact meant that the process was unsuccessful and therefore, another advertisement had to be done.

Topic 3 DQ 2

As seen in the human resource manager's response, the interview type conducted this day was the panel interview. Essentially, the panel interview includes the assessment of an applicant by a group of interviewers. In this case, the five interviewees were interviewed by a panel of interviewers, each at a time. Another characteristic of a panel interview is that the interviewers ask at least one question each (Boella, 2017). Due to the explanation that the panelists were not satisfied by the candidates' answers, it is clear that each interviewer participated actively. Also, the candidates were interviewed at the company premises to determine which one is suitable. Therefore, the selection interview was conducted. This type is more rigorous and engaging than screening interviews.
