In my opinion, the most essential step an individual should take when reading a research article is to not start by reading the abstract, but instead begin should start by reading the introduction. The abstract should be read last since it is generally a succinct summary of the whole paper, and hence there is a highs likelihood that it would be biased on the author’s own interpretation of results.
For this semester’s work, the research topic that I aim to focus on would be based on how the fight against lung cancer can be done through screening and smoking cessation. I am choosing this topic because smoking of cigarettes is the primary factor that causes the development of lung cancer not just in the United States but throughout the world.

The article I have found related to my chosen research topic was written by Gholamreza Heydari , Arezoo Ebn Ahmady , Harry A. Lando , Lida Fadaizadeh , Scott J. Leischow , Mohammadreza Masjedi , and Mohammad Behgam Shadmehr . The article is titled, A Comparative Study on Tobacco Cessation Methods and was published in 2014. The article noted how there has been numerous tobacco control treatment in the recent past. The aim of the research presented in this article is to identify the most effectual method in smoking cessations. The study finds Nicotine replacement therapy to be the most effective method that would help one stop smoking tobacco.
