The 5 TH Avenue Elementary School that my daughter Lisa attends had planned a family night out that would involve all the stakeholders in a child’s education. This particular event was specifically planned in order to introduce a new academic program- new literacy infused centers to everyone. There were cases of low attendance in such events in the past and with this in mind, the school did its very best to ensure this event was a success. They ensured that the organization involved all interested parties comprising the teaching staff, the parents and even the children themselves. Making the family night a live up to its expectations, therefore, became the obligation of every single person. there were even goodies to encourage attendance such as the gift of a book for every child in attendance. The school also ensured that the event was well publicized to avoid cases of people claiming not to have had about it. Each class had a set-up of activities that would keep everyone busy and entertained throughout the family night.
Personal Scenario
I looked forward to the family night with a lot of zeal as I was very curious on what happens and also was excited to be spending the entire time with my daughter. Lisa was a timid girl and beyond the normal chit chat after school, it was very hard to know what was going on in her school beyond class work. I was therefore eager to go get a first-hand experience of what she went through every day and also to get to meet her friends from school. Since the school had even printed colorful flyers to advertise the event, it would be very hard to forget. With anxiety and a lot of expectation we got ready for the day. Lisa and I kept discussing what roles we would play and honestly, she was very excited. I could not hide my excitement too and now and again, I kept calling some of my friends who had children at the school asking them if they would attend the family night. Some were reluctant as always but other were looking forward to it just as much as I was.

On arrival at the school, we were all given game cards which indicated the roles we would be playing. The organization of the family night was very efficient as it fell systematically I place activity after activity. The smile on my daughter’s face as we continued with night was evidence of just how happy she was. This made me really happy and I had as much fun as possible while with her. I also got to learn a lot of stuff that she was doing in school that I never knew off. Her teachers loved her for her obedience and this made me very happy as a mother. However, her most happy moment was when she received her new book. A token every child received for being in attendance. As soon as the teacher gave her the new story book, her face lit up in a wave of radiance. I knew she loved nooks very much but there was another reason why she was so happy. Having to work double shifts at my work place just to put a meal on the table, getting new books was not a usual thing for Lisa. Therefore, I understood the source of her joy fully.
Conclusion
The school’s family night was a huge success. In my personal view, it made a difference in many lives that night and it brought parents and children closer. Parents got the opportunity to understand their children beyond their homes and also to know the kind of academic environment that they had put them in. they also got to meet the teachers of their children and also their friends. Children on the other hand got to showcase their numerous talents to their parents and also to get free books, some sort of luxury for some. Participating in the same activities for both the parents and children was a bonding opportunity that was also very successful. This event in many ways also cemented a good relationship between the children, teaching staff and the parents. It brought them together as a unit that aimed at ensuring that the child got a good education.
