Staff morale is very important in any organization. A motivated workforce will deliver on the goals and objectives of an organization. As a leader, one should be able to motivate employees to deliver their best. Moreover, a leader should be able to inspire the employees. This way, they feel part and parcel of the organization. Leadership is important especially in cases of ongoing or impending crisis (Bartlett, 2014) . In the case of “Lets Rise Above”, the fear that the organization might be closed due to lack of funding is seen to create anxiety among the workers. This is projected as reduced staff morale. In this case, Jasmine should step up and offer leadership to the organization. Proper leadership is the only way Jasmine can boost the morale of the workers in the organization.

Communication is an important concept of leadership. It clears air on various issues and enable employees to focus on the things that are important to the organization. Jasmine has the duty of informing the employees of what is happening with respect to funding. This information will enable the workers to understand the situation rightfully and come up with solutions to the problems. Jasmine should therefore organize for a meeting with all to employees and provide the information. The information provide should be accurate and complete. In order to inspire confidence, Jasmine should be the actual person to deliver this information to the employees and not any other person. This should be the first step towards improving the morale of the employees. The meetings should be regular and consultative in nature. Every employee should be given a chance to comment on the issues and to speak out their personal concerns. This will help create a sense of ownership, both of the problems at hand and of the solutions (Manning, 2014)

Jasmine should also work hard to instil confidence and hope to the employees. In tough times as in their organization, leadership is very important. As a leader, Jasmine should inform the employees that steps are underway to restore the funding to the organization. This should be communicated at every meeting, formal or informal. In so doing, Jasmine will restore the hope and confidence that the organization is still on track. In addition, Jasmine should be seen to be sourcing for the funding. This is very important for perception purposes. As part of instilling hope, Jasmine should constantly remind the employees of the vision of the organization. The candid communication of the vision of an organization to employees have a great effect in boosting their morale. As the leader, Jasmine should be seen as a reflection of this vision. Further, Jasmine should also point out on the achievements already registered by the organization. Providing rewards can boost the morale of the employees (Manning, 2014) . These rewards can monetary and non-monetary. In the case here, Jasmine should recognize the efforts of all workers and point out the gains so far made. In doing so, the employees are able to feel appreciated and valued. This in turn will boost their morale. This is in line with a quote from one of the great philosopher William James who said “The single greatest source of human motivation is the need to be appreciated.”

Consultation and team work are important concepts in handling crisis. The two if well implemented can help boost staff morale. Jasmine should involve the employees in policy and strategy formulation. The goals and objectives of the organization should be communicated to all employees in a timely manner (Manning, 2014) . Similarly, the strategies and plans to accomplish these goals should be well understood by the employees. Trust is required in all these processes. Jasmine should be able to trust that all employees should handle the tasks given to them. Conversely, through proper leadership, Jasmine should be able to exude confidence and reliability in order to be trusted by the employees. Further, the employees should be allowed to make decisions without necessarily involving the leadership. Some of these decisions can be related to clients or on individual trainings. This creates a sense of autonomy. Subsequently, this can lead to improved staff morale (Bartlett, 2014)

As part of improving staff morale, there is the need for Jasmine to organize capacity and team building sessions. This improves on the relationship between employees. It also creates a united front that can help the organization achieve its goals. Capacity building forums can include among others sporting activities, hikes and dinners. The forums create an impression to the workers that the organization values them. Subsequently, they have their morale boosted. Further, they become ambassadors of the organization to the outside world. Further, in an effort to boost staff morale, there is the need to reduce bureaucracies in the organization. The employees should be able to reach the top management in the shortest time possible. Multi-layered processes create redundancy and lowers the morale of employees (Bartlett, 2014)

In conclusion, Jasmine should offer leadership to the organization in order to boost the morale of employees. Constant communication should be the goal in the organization. This should be done in a timely manner. Jasmine should also inform the employees on the current situation and what is being done about it. Further, the leadership should honor the accomplishments of the workers through a proper reward system. Finally, as part of motivating the workers, Jasmine should organize capacity building forums in a bid to create cohesiveness in the organization.
