After watching the video, the concepts that Natalie Warne mentions in her TED Talk have led me to understand that even young people can have the ability of making an impact, especially when it comes to taking action for things they feel passionate about. For Natalie Warne, she served as a young activist from Chicago, while she worked together with the “Invincible Children” movement. The movement targeted raising awareness to the longest war in Africa together with child soldiers, who were under the command of Joseph Kony. Kony tortured the children while at the same time leading a Uganda-based guerrilla group. He would even set goals perceived as overly idealistic.

The TedxTeen Talk by Warne educates young individuals that having idealistic viewpoints does not indicate that it is not possible to realize the goals that those views inspire. Warne commences her talk outlining anonymous extraordinaries as individuals who work in a selfless as well as vigorous manner while their conviction serves as their motivating force rather than recognition. For many teenagers, they usually work toward attaining certain goals they can allow them prove their worth to others that they have the capacity of attaining greatness. After entering the adulthood realm, they need to work in such a manner that they realize recognition and grow professionally. It is easy to believe that youth activists receive motivation from conviction as opposed to adults who apply efforts to realize conviction.

During Warne’s high school later years, she commenced attending the screening of the “Invincible Children” movie. In her perspective, she illustrates explaining various emotions once she watched the film, while she did not understand whether to feel pity, rage, or guilt, since this served as the initial time that she gained insights concerning the war. The instance motivated her to take action as well as raise various questions. Warne gained insights that she could help the invincible kids to push for a bill that would lead to the apprehension of Joseph Kony together with his rebellious troop commanders, while the initiative would offer financing for redeveloping the area, which faced the effect of a war that run for 20 years. The task that Warne undertook while being an intern in San Diego aimed at creating a plan for an event that would occur head-to-head with activities in 99 other cities worldwide. The events targeted creating rallies in every city until a publicly recognizable figure would utilize their voice with the goal of raising awareness concerning the Mission of Invincible Children. While one of the events assigned to Warne was based in Chicago, Oprah Winfrey served as the major celebrity supporting the cause.

With the assistance of other extraordinaries who wished to remain anonymous, they marched outside the production office of Oprah Winfrey’s show where Warne attained her goal of catching the attention of Oprah. Winfrey featured the marchers on a program that aired during the day, which managed to reach an average of 7.4 million viewers daily. For Warne, she explains that while the press featured as well as documented her story, the efforts that the other numerous interns made led the idealistic goal to become achievable.

The story by Warne serves as evidence that the current society as well as the education system need to offer young individuals with opportunities that can allow them to find the causes they feel concern them the most, while offering them the chance of experiencing bigger than themselves. In the case of Warne, the media offered her this opportunity, indicating that it is possible to utilize the media for other just causes rather than just for entertainment purposes. Importantly, it is essential to offer young individuals these kinds of experiences to allow them to understand what their place is in the world by providing them with opportunities for working locally to attain a goal that is global in nature. In this manner, young individuals would comprehend their ideas’ efficiency while allowing them to understand the unlimited potential that they possess.
