Why change from functional to matrix structure is the best for the company
The functional type of organizational structure is efficient where the range of operation of the firm is within a single location and more so with a one product category. For Novida bottlers the addition of different geographical locations as it expands will make the adoption of matrix structure be the most preferred since it is more efficient looking into the dynamic environment it will tend to operate from (Westover, 2010). Moreover, it will offer a faster response to demands from customers and the market as it will save on the time required to develop a new product. Furthermore, there will be better skills utilization, and functions will be easily integrated with the response to customer's demands met faster.

Differences between Matrix and Functional Structures
Matrix structure makes decision making to be slow, and it is common for managers not to come into agreement in different matters, as a result, lead to confusion among workers. Moreover, resources are not easily available; also, the workload is usually huge, leading to increased stress and less efficiency among the employees making the company less productive (Liz Gold, 2018). Functional structures make the workers struggle to effectively cater to their manager's and client's needs as they may receive demands coming from different departments that are conflicting, this will make the firm lose its client base consequently leading to loses. Also, huge firms can’t use this system since there will be difficulty in resource containment and management of overall expenses.
List of Things to be done before and After the Change Occurs
Before change occurs, some factors might need to be considered; for example, the motivation of the workers and the cultural part of maintaining high morale as the transition takes place. Also, the people who will be required for a smooth transition, financial results, and the time factor are some of the hard factors that need to be effectively addressed. Additionally, the need to involve workers in the whole process is necessary (Ken & Scott 2013). After the change, one needs to prepare the staff through training programs to acquire new skills. Furthermore, the top bosses will be required to ensure the employees are performing at their best by involving them in open conversions and maintaining a good line of communication.
Sources of Resistance due to the Changes
The sources of resistance can either be from organizational sources or individuals. One of the resistance can be from habits from an individual’s perspective, where a change in the geographical location of the firm may result in difficulties in terms of coping and adjusting effectively. There fear is in the fact that they will need to alter their daily routines such as the time they will have to wake up in-case the new firms' location is much further as before (Ken & Scott 2013). Also, Individuals may be fearful of accounts of their income or economic impact that may affect them negatively; for instance, change may come with a decrease in salary, loss of jobs. Also, the working hours may be adjusted to include more hours.
Techniques for Overcoming Resistance to Change
The use of communication in an effective way plus education where awareness is created as to the benefits that will be brought by change and equally giving explanations as to why change is necessary, the objectivity of the required change may result in to smooth transition from one structure to the other. Also, it will provide the workers with a platform where they may ask questions, and they get answered to minimize the hassles and objections that may be experienced (Westover, 2010). Moreover, a system of negotiations and agreements may be used to the good effect whereby in case there is lay off of workers they may be involved in negotiations for good payoffs.
