The Individuals with Disability Education Act is an important law especially because it ensures that legible students with the disability are served with the required educational needs. The law gives the schools the duty and power to evaluate and identify children with special educational needs without charging their parents. This law is one of the greatest ideas especially due to the fact that it offers equality to all children with special educational needs. The best treatment for children with disability is identified through IEP meeting which identifies the parents and school environment as the best way to offer quality to cases covered by IDEA.
The identification of the needs of children with a disability works best within the school setting according to IEP meeting (Winnick & Porretta, 2016). It is not easy to always identify children with special educational needs especially within the home setting. The school environment provides the best opportunity for identification of such needs. The Act is most important in the sense that it appreciates the role of the teachers in the identification of disability among the children. Additionally, the Act makes perfect sense by the fact that it describes the roles of the parents and the teachers in the realization of best services for the children with disability in the society (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 2016).

The involvement of the parents in the implementation of IDEA works perfectly for the children and the school (Grisham-Brown, Hemmeter, & Pretti-Frontczak, 2017). The IDEA allows the parents to have an opinion with regards to the education offered to their children. All decisions made about the children are after consultation with the parents. Parents’ involvement ensures that the programs offered to the children are both inclusive and beneficial since parents always have a better understanding of the children as compared to the teachers (Grisham-Brown, Hemmeter, & Pretti-Frontczak, 2017). This ensures that the services offered to the children with disability are tailored to meet all their needs.
Understanding the children with disability require a great effort from different persons in the society including the teachers and the parents. IEP meeting offers an opportunity to understand the significance of the parents and the school environment in the realization of quality care for the children with disability.
