However, the administration lacks clearly defined roles that have led to an overlapping of duties.

It examined the purposes of bureaucracy and its impact on governments and politics of a country by including its benefits and disadvantages. What was interesting to learn?

The most interesting part of this paper was a discussion on reforming the federal bureaucracy based on the analysis of benefits and costs associated with a federal bureaucracy. The paper proposed a need to change the American bureaucracy as a way of ensuring efficiency by removing the costs and maintaining the beneficial aspects. Under this section, the paper mentioned how it has been difficult reforming the bureaucracy due to being controlled by the executive and the president, with the competition between the branches of government complicating reforms.

The best source in this paper was the Oxford Handbook of American bureaucracy by Robert F. Durant that provided an in-depth and comprehensive analysis of what entails a bureaucracy and the state of American bureaucracy.

The paper was thoroughly done in explaining and analyzing the aspect of bureaucracy in governments and how to reform the American bureaucracy. Future recommendations include conducting a comparison of American bureaucracy with another country that has a successful bureaucratic system of government. This would help understand where the country is going wrong and where it is doing it right.
