This discussion topic is designed to help us get started in thinking about these concepts of proximity, alignment, repetition, and contrast.

1. Write a few sentences about how proximity is used in these two websites.
Answer here: (Please Write 5 sentences in response to the question)
Proximity alludes to the principle of design that ensures that designs that are related are placed together (Smith, 2014). Proximity in the websites above depicts that items that are closer together are connected or have an association with each other and thus become a cohesive unit instead of independent entities. This significantly aids in the organization and structuring of the layout of the website. In both websites, similar content is placed in the same layout, thus showing a great utilization of the element of proximity.

2. Write a few sentences about how alignment is incorporated in these two websites.
Answer here: (Please Write 5 sentences in response to the question)
This element of design shares similar traits with proximity in that its purpose is to organize the paper and thus have a more orderly design (Hortin, 2011). The alignment of the elements in the websites above also allows for the creation of a visual connection with one another. It makes the design tighter and thus eliminates messy effects that come with random placement, and this usually ends up annoying the website users because of the lack of organization. Therefore, both of the websites use the element of alignment to attain coherence and organization and thus ensure that the users have a good experience while interacting with the website.

1. Describe a possible white paper for an external audience. Keep in mind that, for a white paper to an external audience, you will not be writing to an audience for an organization of which you are a member. In other words, you would not write a white paper to your boss about the need to correct a problem in your company. That would be an internal white paper because you are a part of the company.
Mike works for a company that had a bad experience in moving its data to the cloud. He could write a white paper for companies that are considering moving their data to the cloud . The white paper would discuss current reasons companies are considering moving to the cloud in light of the pitfalls of moving to the cloud that Mike feels companies should be aware of.
This would be an example of an external audience, as Mike is not familiar with the individuals who will read his white paper, does not work for the companies that might benefit from it, and is not involved in these companies in any way.
Answer here: (talk about reasons companies may consider moving to the cloud in light of the pitfalls of moving to the cloud that mike feels companies should be aware of)
Please write 6-8 sentences to answer the question
While there is a myriad of risks associated with the process of cloud migration, the benefits far outweigh the potential risk associated with the process, thus the need for migration. Some of the benefits include a reduction in operational costs due to the elimination of the need for physical servers as well as the maintenance costs associated with the ownership. Similarly, cloud technology is very easy to scale and can thus grow with the needs of the business and, therefore, it can be of great appeal for businesses. Another significant merit of the cloud is that some of the cloud hosts automate most of the processes, which would otherwise be time-consuming. These include regular server updates, data backups, as well as periodic maintenances (Cook, 2009). However, some of the caveats of the cloud migration process include compliance requirements, loss of transparency and control, increased latency when using cloud applications, as well as the inability to deploy proprietary systems.
2. Describe what terms you might need to define or what concepts you might need to explain for a white paper of the type you mentioned in task #1 above. For example, a white paper that gives cautions about moving to the cloud will have to define certain cloud terminology for its audience.
Answer here: (write about 6-8 sentences)
Some of the basic terminologies in cloud technology include XaaS, which stands for ‘anything-as-a-service,’ and this term alludes to any services available via the cloud. SaaS also stands for ‘Software-as-a-Service’ which is a system of software applications that are based in the cloud and can be used anywhere as long as one has a working internet connection. PaaS is a term that stands for ‘platform-as-a-service,’ and it is an environment that offers everything that is necessary for building and deploying applications that are based in the cloud. Finally, IaaS is a term that stands for ‘Infrastructure-as-a-service,’ and it is a type of model where businesses are given a complete package of computing resources and are charged on the basis of the scale of the infrastructure they use. One may also come across the term ‘Public cloud,’ and it usually refers to the part of the cloud which is owned and run by companies that provide access to computing resources for the public. On the contrary, private cloud is the part of the cloud, which is only meant for a particular organization and is thus exclusive to that particular organization. However, the combination of these two systems is alluded to as a hybrid cloud, which implies the utilization of a private cloud infrastructure in conjunction with the utilization of cloud services that are public in nature. Typically, private cloud is not able to exist on its own as most businesses that have a private cloud also have to access the public cloud for several day-to-day tasks, and thus the hybrid cloud system.
