Dear Sir/ Madam,
Introduction
Bullying in school is a phenomenon that has become rampant in recent decades. The CDC and department of education define bullying as being composed of perceived power imbalance, unwanted aggressive behavior, and a high likelihood of repetition or repetition of certain behavior (U.S. Department of Education, 2019). Bullying can take four types, including damage to property, verbal, physical, and relational bullying. It can also take two modes, direct bullying, and indirect bullying. About a third of students between the ages of 12 and 18 claim to have experienced bullying at school, according to the National Center for Education Statistics (U.S. Department of Education, 2019).
Bullying is not a simple interaction between the student who is bullied and the one who bullies. Bullying affects all youths, those who are bullied, those who bully, and those who witness bullying. About 56% of students claim to have witnessed some type of bullying in school, while 6% of students have been cyberbullied either in school or elsewhere (Facts about bullying, 2019). Students who

have medical conditions that alter their appearances, such as muscular dystrophy or obesity, make them ideal victims of bullying in high school. About 43% of student’s fear being harassed in the bathrooms at school, while others get bullied in the playground (Facts about bullying, 2019). Bullying effects have been known to last into adulthood for some students. Bullying can result in loss of self-esteem, chronic depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety disorders, and substance abuse.
Body
Bullying has negative impacts on a school’s environment. There exists a disconnect between adults and young people being bullied (Facts about bullying, 2019). There are a few steps that must be taken in response to this. First, it is vital to take positive and joint actions to eradicate bullying (How to prevent bullying, 2019). Adults must benefit pupils in comprehending what entails bullying. They will then come up with clear lines of communication that allow students to report any issue of bullying that they experience or witness (How to prevent bullying, 2019). Adults should also encourage pupils to speak up on matters relating to bullying (How to prevent bullying, 2019). Adults will then investigate the issue and help stop the vice.
The cost of remedying bullying in school includes the cost of hiring a new school counselor that is well versed in bullying issues. The school will have two counselors, where one will deal with academics giving the second one more time to address the vice. The schools can also put up surveillance cameras around the school to ensure they have evidence on those who are bullying others and those being bullied. The capital for the proposal will be collected through crowdfunding. The proposal is feasible because surveillance cameras and a new counselor will help in pointing out victims and perpetrators who will get the help they need from the school counselor.
Most people believe that the issue of bullying has decreased over time in schools. This is backed by the numerous policies that schools enact regarding bullying. Unfortunately, evidence shows that the problem continues to increase as 20% of students between the ages of 12-18 were bullied in 2017 (Facts about bullying, 2019). One can also argue that adults are made aware of the situation; thus, the disconnect cannot be that serious. Evidence points out that only about 30% of cases are reported to adults (Facts about bullying, 2019). The disconnect exists and must be mitigated to address the issue of bullying.
Conclusion
As a school principal, one’s main duty is to monitor students’ achievement, provide a positive school culture, and manage people, processes, and data. Implementing this proposal to remedy bullying helps in realizing these key responsibilities for the school. Students who learn in conducive environments perform well and can move on to their next stage in life successfully. This will help you as a teacher increase job satisfaction among the faculty and yourself upon seeing the reduced rates of bullying and the success of students.
Sincerely,
