Psychological disorders are comprehensible and manageable. With regard to the human ecology theory, we explore perspectives for treatment of a kid diagnosed with ASD. We develop an IEP for the patient and recommend strategies for recovery. 3-year-old Paul has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. He has exhibited delayed speaking and his parents have admitted him to an intervention school. Paul has had a history of communication problems, lack of social interaction and uncommon behavior which are ASD symptoms ( Joseph et al . 2015 ) . His education needs are different from those of normal children and he definitely requires special attention to get him to function normally.
According to the human ecology theory, the interactions between humans and their environment shape who we are and who we become ( Dyball&Newell, 2015) . Human ecology explores the interactions between people and their social, natural and built environments. Genetically, Paul’s family has had no history of autism. Human ecology also explores the role of technology in human development, Paul would benefit from the AAC device when other options are exhausted. Finally, for optimal psychological growth, in accordance to human ecology, Paul would need an understanding and supportive social environment that would allow him proper psychological adaptation ( Dyball&Newell, 2015) .

Paul's educational needs can be met using an IEP. First, his parents need to be made aware that Paul's learning goals are long-term. His learning deficits should be identified and developed progressively one by one. Using assessments, his teachers can administer skills according to his needs and know when to advance. For instance, he can be taught how to comprehend a passage by learning to decode a few words a day. In math for example, if he successfully adds two-digit numbers, an IEP goal would be to subtract two digits numbers in a week or so. The IEP should be measurable and adaptable to his degree of ability or inability ( Alexander, 2018) . His social skills can be developed daily during group activities in class interactions. This would reduce his dependence on the AAC device and allow development of alternative natural communication techniques. Paul’s parents and therapist should be ready to attend assessment meetings in which they uncover strengths and weaknesses while creating strategies for overcoming them.
