Human Resource (HR) plays an essential role in the success and growth of a business. The current growth in technology has facilitated several developments in business, such as automation of business processes. Most businesses are changing to automated models due to their paperless nature, reliability, and efficiency. As the HR manager, I am tasked with replacing our business manual tasks using a software-based solution. The software packages will address performance management in the business.

Performance Management 

Performance management is a crucial area of HR. It is important to monitor and evaluate employees' work. Its main goal is to create an environment where individuals can perform their tasks to the best of their abilities to provide high-quality work. Performance management is also a continuous process that involves planning, reviewing, and coaching employee performance to achieve the business goals within the stipulated time. Investigating performance management is important as it is a pillar in the success of the business. It also provides the mechanisms to manage existing employees and determine when to hire more employees to boost the business performance.

Additionally, performance management provides both short and long-term benefits to the business. There are various short-term benefits of performance management. Firstly, performance management helps improve the morale of the employees. Performance reviews create a suitable environment for recognizing individual efforts, not just setting the next quarterly objectives. Praising the employees on work well done increases their productivity since they feel their actions are being recognized and are appreciated. In addition, the constant feedback and reviews of employees maintain their morale.

Secondly, it increases firing risks since weak employees that should be dismissed are spotted quickly. If the performance management systems indicate that a particular employee contribution is inadequate, the business will benefit from an early end to a bad situation. Thirdly, performance management improves efficiency since employees can manage their time correctly. It enables employees to focus on work that is beneficial to the business.

On the other hand, long-term benefits are indicated below. First, performance management establishes where employee training is needed (Natural HR, 2019). The evaluation aims at identifying employees who will need training. It also aims at producing the best employees that will help fulfill the business goals. The constant reviews will also help understand the employees' skillsets and help identify which skills require improving and their impact on business productivity (Natural HR, 2019). Secondly, it helps in identifying the right employee for promotion. Performance is the key aspect that is considered while awarding promotions in a business. Since all employees undergo the same performance review, HR will evaluate employees for promotion, transfers, and salary increase.

Thirdly, performance management increases employee retention rate. Through regular feedback, employees feel appreciates and develop loyalty to the company (Natural HR, 2019). In addition, morale will create a favorable work environment, which will increase the output per hour of employees and cut labor costs. Lastly, it will support workforce planning. A typical business day incorporates several processes, and frequent reviews with the employees will encourage planning. Discussing the current and future workload may identify the need for more employees. In addition, those struggling with their workload can also be assisted by sharing the work amongst the team members.

Software Packages 

Software is applied to assist in automating the manual processes. The software selection process will be based on the software reviews and how easily incorporated into our business processes (GetApp, 2021). Easier incorporation will reduce the changeover cost and easier to use for employees. The selected software are highlighted below.

Monitask 

Monitask software provides a web-based time tracking and productivity tool available for any size of the company. The software is scalable and can cater to our business growth. It also allows managers to track their employees' desktops and working hours (Monitask, 2021). In addition, it provides a trial period, and each subscription includes better employee monitoring and productivity feature that helps manage employees and save money as the company grows. Additionally, it reduces the time spent working with employees and provides in-depth reports and project management features. It is also easier to review employee efficiency.

I selected this software because of being web-based, and it can be accessed from anywhere provided one has an internet-enabled device. In addition, its desktop versions support several operating systems, such as Windows, Mac, and Linux. Furthermore, its ability to log employees' working hours provides proof of work and can be used in calculated overtime payment. The software has positive reviews of 4.8.

Calamari 

Calamari software provides two essential services: tracking employees' attendance and time and leave management. The software is also flexible to comply with labor regulations of more than 70 countries; thus, it will be ideal for incorporating it when the business will be expanding past the local market. However, the services are provided on the cloud, and one would require an internet-enabled device and no server infrastructure or IT department to implement it (Calamari, 2021). In addition, the software constantly improves its security policies to cope with the increasing cybersecurity threats.

I chose this software because of its security since employee records are critical to the success of the organization and its cloud support, which alleviates the changeover cost. However, the software can be easily be integrated with Google applications, which forms the basis of most information infrastructure. The leave management module also automates the process of leave application and automatically calculates each employee's entitlement. Furthermore, it has a high review of 4.7.

Conrep 

Conrep software provides an integrated solution to businesses such as HRMS, CRM, project management, and accounting. It is a web-based solution that increases organizational efficiency and promotes individual productivity and responsibility. It is also scalable to cater to the growth of the company (Conrep Inc., 2021). The most important part of the software in human resource management is the HRMS module, which will help automate HRM processes. The software provides workforce management capabilities, onboarding with e-signatures, time management, and self-service employee portals. In addition, I chose the software because it allows for an intuitive user interface with dashboards and reports that are used to gauge the company's performance. It also supports mobile access and has a wide range of add-ons that can be integrated with it.
