It has been fifteen years since the terror attack of 9/11, which killed 2,977 peoples, left thousands wounded, and destroyed the American economy. The attack, which was conducted by 19 terrorists using four jetliners and guided missiles, created an immediate need to change the security system and implement countermeasures to prevent a similar attack in the future. However, there has been an ongoing debate on whether America is safer o they are still vulnerable to worse attacks in the future. Following the 9/11 attack, several country measures and security reforms were implemented to safeguard the country, making the country safer.

Security measures implemented by homeland security have succeeded in toughening up and secure American borders from terrorist attacks. Today, it is hard for terrorists to get into the country, and in case they enter the country, it is hard for them to pull off something. The justice department's surveillance, counterterrorism litigation, and interrelated legal-policy decisions have been implemented to increase security ( Brill, 2016) . The FBI budget has tripled to enhance their performance and fasten the investigation. Security in the transport sector, especially in air and port, has been improved. Today, all the employees in the airlines are adequately trained on screening and are expected to operate under guidelines approved by the Federal Aviation Administration. Quality screening systems for people and cargo to detect bombs have been deployed across all airports. Trained federal agents conduct screening and searches. Also, several technologies have been developed to counter biothreats and detect radiations.

Adequate federal funds have been set aside to recruit more Counterterrorism Bureau and intelligence officers. Also, mire federal money has been used to reinforce subway tunnels, install cameras and recruit undercover agents in trains, ships, and other public places. Also, combining the 22 far-flung government agencies into the Department of Homeland Security has improved sharing of security information and the detecting of criminals ( Brill, 2016) . Also, these agencies have managed to control access to weapons of mass destruction by criminals. In addition, the US security team is continuously implementing measures to counter the new threat of cyberterrorism which targets major infrastructures. However, there is a need to implement more security measures to seal loopholes vulnerable to terrorist attacks.
