Islam and Christians are the most common religions in the world. They both believe in heaven though in different perspectives. Their belief may be different, but the aspect is both similar in that heaven is a place where you God and those he finds righteous reside. The essay is going to explain in details the point of heaven according to both Christians and Islam (Wright, 2002).
Islam is a religion that mainly originated in the Arabic community, and hence their Holy book is written in Arabic. According to the Islam religion, Jannah is the name they use to refer to Heaven. The name Jannah means paradise, and it is interpreted as the eternal place of the Tawhid believers. Scholars of the Hadith refer to it as an eternal place where all humankind were forgiven sinners and also go after serving purgatory time. Due to the forgiveness factor, it led to the rise of Allah’s alternative names such as “The most Merciful”. The Islamic eschatology believes that after one dies their soul resides in the grave until time for resurrection during judgment day. Islamic religions believe that the way someone is treated in the grave is according to the way their deeds were in life (Qutb, 1991).

They also believe that an individual’s hearts desires are the things that will be found once in heaven. Their highest paradise level is known as Firdaws a where place prophets, most faithful or pious and martyrs are found. The Quran describes heaven as a place where delights are found such as most beautiful maidens, best of foods, clean water and precious stones. Its aim is to target Arabs dwelling in deserts due to the arid life and lands. There is also the perspective in that the description is seen allegories to explain a state of happiness that is found in heaven (Qutb, 1991).
Christians, on the other hand, also believe in Heaven and refer to its location as the throne of God. It is seen as a Holy place where angels are found as well. Angels are heavenly beings that are found in Heaven together with God. In a different form of Christianity heaven is seen as a place where the righteous are found after they die and is mainly temporary before the dead resurrect and return of saints to earth. Jesus is believed to have ascended to heaven where He sits at the right hand of God and is expected to return to earth during the Second coming. There are those that are seen in Bible to have gone to Heaven while still alive and they include; Elijah, Jesus and Enoch. Romans believe that Mary the mother of Jesus also entered heaven and is referred to as Queen of Heaven (Calvin & Uyl, 2016).
Lastly, the Christian Bible tends to define the future Kingdom of Heaven according to a new earth that is expected after the resurrection of the dead. It is, therefore, seen that Heaven is seen from different aspects and they include the physical cosmos, coming world in the future after the resurrection of the dead due to the return of Christ and as a perfect real that already exists. Heaven is believed to be a place where it is filled with peace, joy and happiness. It is a place that does not have any negative feelings or actions taking place. As seen, it is a place that is filled with people with honest hearts that are not stained with sin. Christians live a life that is righteous to one day taste the happiness that they anticipate to experience in Heaven for the earth is filled with negative experiences (Calvin & Uyl, 2016).
