In the article  Smart Scheduling   Puts Students Needs First  by Alyson Klein, readers are informed of the better scheduling to ensure learners grasp the information given by their teachers. Alyson introduces her readers to the subject of smart programming by providing an example of a principal of Eastern Kentucky University of Model Laboratory School David Naylor, a leader who applied a faulty timetable to his students. As a result, after Naylor heard Daniel Pink, a famous author speaks, he realized his mistake and opt to return to the drawing board. Klein introduces Pink in her article both as a recognized author and one who is concerned about the student’s welfare.

In the article, Klein refers to Pink’s book to enlighten readers that young children best learn in the morning. As a result, they should be taught subjects that need much focus, such as reading and math in the morning hours (Klein, 2020). In the afternoon, when the students’ minds are tired or anxious about when the school day will end, they should be given creative assignments such as drawing, music, and free writing.

Nonetheless, most schools have not put into practice this smart scheduling. Instead, teach young kids brainstorming subjects; reading and math as they please. As a result, such schools do not place learners' needs ahead. Therefore, such schools eventually perform poorly. However, schools such as that of Naylor that have started practicing smart scheduling will see progress in students’ performance

In conclusion, Klein enlightens readers, notably teachers and school leaders, of the importance of intelligent scheduling for their young learners. She clarifies that early morning is the best time for young students to grasp brainstorming subjects like math and reading. In the afternoon, students should be in a free mode to carryout creative tasks such as music, painting, and drawing. Therefore, smart scheduling is essential for young learners to ensure learning takes place.
