Equine veterinary is in charge of providing health care for a horse. The primary areas of care that he focuses on include medicine and treatment such as surgical treatment. They handle all breeds of horses including large workhorses to small ponies (Hope Kramer 2017). Equine veterinary is required to travel to ranches and farms, and further might be needed to work outdoors in different weather condition. Equine veterinarians earn about $43,405 based on the Bureau of Labor Statistics in the year 2011.

Organizations that provide medication and treatment services for horses post job vacancies for the position of equine veterinary describing the roles, qualification and experience. For the job analysis, the following are the relevant and irrelevant information required: experience, salary earned education requirement and roles. The other information needed are, the number of patients they attend to on a daily basis and the number of patients that die in their hands (Hope Kramer 2017). 

Requirements for equine veterinary medicine include, first, a good physical condition that would enable an individual to handle the animal properly. According to Hope Kramer (2017), horse experience is critical because a person who knows horses on a personal level is a qualified equine veteran. Excellent communication skills are essential, and this has been closely related to bedside manner. One must be equipped with current information and be flexible to change since information changes rapidly with massive technological development. Equine veterinary is required to travel to various ranches and farms across the country when necessary, and further, they might be required to work outdoors irrespective of the weather condition. There are instances where the veterinary would be forced to perform on-site surgeries, and this might takes place to the dubious level of cleanliness. An equine veterinary is also considered as being responsible for guarding the horse’s welfare and at the same time uphold the ethical practices mainly related to those animals in competition. 

The psychology profile for an individual to be successful in the equine veterinary job position is diverse. An individual must be able to effectively communicate with other people to ensure that he or she obtain relevant information from the owner of the horse and show compassion for animal and people. In using his interpersonal skills, the veterinary must be able to recommend and explain various available treatment options (Equine Vets in Hertfordshire, 2017). Further, this individual must not pass judgment, but he or she should be able to provide relevant answers objectively. It is important for an individual to be in a position to get up and work despite their condition and situation and overall must ensure that they do no harm. 

An equine veterinary has to be compassionate when handling horses and the owners of these animals. They have to treat these horse with utmost respect and kindness and be sensitive especially when interaction with the owner of the horse (Equine Vets in Hertfordshire, 2017). Decision making skill is critical to a veterinary where they must be able to decide that most appropriate method to treat a sick and injured animal. Management expertise is pertinent for veterinarians in charge of running private clinic or even laboratory. Equine veterinary ought to have strong problem-solving skills since they must be able to figure out what exactly is ailing the horse. Diagnostic skill is also an excellent skill for a veterinary to determine the drug effects.
