Democracy is the best form of government compared to aristocracy and the monarchy. The social inclusion that comes with democracy is one of the things that make it the best form of government, as the citizens are part of the decision-making process. They have the ability to influence laws and policies as elections of individuals are the processes followed in getting leaders of a country. The implication is that the citizens able to have an influence on the direction of economic, social as well as the political values. The power held by the citizens’ means that the political control of the country is in the hands of the majority and not only a select few.
The other reason why democracy is the best form of government is because it contributes to a sense of freedom. This freedom has a lot of cultural importance based on the respect for human rights. People are able to pursue economic gain if they have freedom to make choices related to their lives. There are checks and balances that are in place to ensure that leaders do not have any abuse of power. Democracy also promotes equality of all citizens as all are equal in the hands of the law. On the same note, government services can be accessed by all the citizens in the society due to the concept of equality. Democracy also protects the interests of the citizens as all are included in the government. Both the supporters and those in opposition are entitled to equal access to government services. People are allowed the chance to vote those who should represent them and make decisions on their behalf in major national issues. In case a major change is needed, the people are called upon to make a decision based on their interests through a referendum. This means that a democratic government protects the interests of the citizens.
