The core issue in the article Leading and Managing a Differentiated Classroom is the need for the teacher/instructor to understand that the goal of teaching is to ensure that all students benefit. The learning process involves understanding the students’ needs. Often, teacher/instructors are concerned with completing the syllabus and administering the standardized exams. While such activities are vital in the learning process, it is equally imperative to ensure that learning has taken place. The students, regardless of their cultural backgrounds, should be able to become independent. The teacher ensures that learning is individualized to address the specific problems in each student. When students become independent, their self-esteem is also fostered, which plays a vital role in boosting their performance.
As an aspiring campus leader, I find the article, particularly the idea of differentiated classroom, very useful. I understand that as a leader, the main goal is to understand and address the needs of every student. Some of the strategies include making the classroom more flexible to facilitate group discussions, interactions of students from different cultures, assessing learning, and promoting student-centered approach to learning. Another learning outcome is that as a leader one has to recognize the importance of collaboration between teachers can students in the learning process. Students have vital information that a teacher can use in planning and improving learning. When students are involved in the decision making process, they feel appreciated and an integral part of the learning process. They also feel to in control of learning process, which enhances their sense of independence. Therefore, as a leader, I can use the information from the article to foster effectiveness and ensure quality in learning.

After reading the article, one of pertinent question is whether as an aspiring campus leader I have the skills to foster student-centered learning. Another question is whether the learning institutions have the resources and the capability to promote the differentiated learning. Finally, another important question is the practicability of the differentiated learning and its relevance. From my perspective I believe that the information in article is relevant and important in improving learning. However, I think that the learning institutions are slow in adopting the principles of differentiated classrooms. I also believe that resources such as teachers should be increased to facilitate the student-centered approach.
