As a composer and a musician who was able to involve himself in a wide range of music, Leonard Bernstein had a favorite quote that he believed drives him in his career. ‘I write my music with a reason to communicate … ‘was his quote that he believed gave him a reason to compose a song. He believed that it is through music that one will be able to understand the meaning and importance of an individual issue quickly (Laird, 2015). He believed that music was the best media that would not be biased when it came to the point of passing on information. He used music to communicate and give information that concerned and happened in the society. He was not only talking about the negatives that happened or criticized an issue, but he also communicated and appreciated the good things that occurred in the society. Apart from communicating he also believed that the message that was passed would also be used to unite the people and be able to live in peace.

Leonard Bernstein notable piece

Leonard Bernstein works as a composer is seen to produce a range of notable pieces of works he did that have heard a positive effect on the society. Taking one of his pieces that he worked on that was able to have a positive effect on the people is the A quite Place. It is an American opera that appeared in three acts. The three acts were seen to all have a different significance. He is seen to talk about a family that is at a funeral of their beloved one. The funeral is seen to be a quiet place that is not disturbed by any noise or destruction. We also see that at home the family is considered to all operate and behave quietly because one of their loved ones is no more (Rubin, 2014). There is a sense of quietness as no one is in the healthy mood. The fact that the music has been broken down into different acts that are seen to talk about different situations and at different place and time, it makes the work seem to be modern.
