However, when he returned to US, Holl launched a practice in New York City while still serving on the faculty of the University of Colombia (Kiasma, 2020) . The work of Holl entails many buildings across various cities around the world; some of his famous buildings include Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma in Helsinki , Nanjing Sifang Art Museum in Nanjing, China, and American Memorial Library found in Berlin, among others. However, Steve Holl's later work focused on urban buildings with a mix of residential and commercial projects, and most of these projects were based in China. The tasks involved the linked hybrid building, which is more complex because it contained restaurants, hotels, apartments, and schools located in Beijing and the Shenzhen horizontal skyscraper famously know as Vanke Centre.
