A strength of the proposed study is that it will utilize measures that specifically aim assessment of stigma. The AQ-9 measures all the key behaviors related to mental illness stigma. Existing data indicates that the measure is reliable and valid in measuring mental illness stigma. Another strength of the proposed study is that variations in outcomes will be analyzed after an intervention related to specific interaction in a naturalistic context. Study participants will be studied in their natural environment. Despite the strengths, the study has some limitations.

There is possibility for bias in the study. In research, bias occurs when outcomes are influenced in order to show a certain result (Christensen, 2014). AQ-9 is a self-reported questionnaire hence participants may provide information that is biased. The most probable biases in the study are related to honesty and introspective capability. Participants may chose a response that is more socially embraced instead of being true (Christensen, 2014). In addition, study participants may be evaluate themselves correctly (Christensen, 2014). The sample size of the proposed study may not be representative. The sample size will be less than 100 hence generalizing results of the study may not be possible.

In order to minimize the study’s limitations, data on stigma levels using the AQ-9 will be collected on two different occasions after the study. This will help in minimizing bias resulting from the study’s participants. In addition, the questionnaires will be made anonymous in order to minimize response bias. Questions will be made clear, neutral in wording, and with no leading answers. As a result of limitations in resources, the sample size may not go beyond one hundred participants. The limitation is beyond the ability of the resources of the proposed study. However, both male and female participants will be enrolled for the study to ensure representation in gender.
