Linus Torvalds, the architect of Linux and initiator Open Source crusade, shared his thoughts on an interview with Bill Robinson, Linus revealed that his fascination in technology is inclined towards the hardware components that are being improved daily. He stated that hardware development inspired people to invent new algorithms to take advantage of the hardware capabilities. He despises the glorification that the world gives to industry leaders insisting that both the customers and the employees realize the success of an organization.

Torvalds believes that the telecom meltdown that occurred in the millennium should not be stopped because development and advancement occur in jets that the market translates as hype. He believes that technology does not advance in bits but through many highs and lows. He contends that it is impossible to know when advancement is too much. Torvalds maintains that technology will not change so much because our habits shape it, and the customers are the actual drivers because they are the users and want their needs met (Torvalds, 2014).

I agree with Torvalds thoughts on the advancement of technology. He believes that technological advancements cannot be controlled because they comprise of escalations and nosedives. Since technology involves a leap of the human race into a phase that has not been experienced before, it is challenging to recognize if the next step is the switch from an escalation to a nosedive. Secondly, I support his crusade for open source products. Even though, this campaign is against the pillars of capitalism which place a commercial value on everything. However, patenting and licensing makes technology very expensive and out of reach to most people. I believe technology should bring us together instead of creating a gap between us.
