Introduction

Alcohol use is one of the serious problems that has required planned interventions since time immemorial. It has been a crucial problem that has caused more harm than good to individuals. Especially to people who frequently use it, it has caused health challenges, death, economic constraints and addiction (Buettner et al., 2009). So, due to these evident cases that have become popular in several communities, there has been a need to intervene and prevent such from happening. Therefore, intervention has reportedly been important because it has reduced the effects of alcohol on people to their minimal levels.

Common Profiles of Alcohol Use

Alcohol in over decades has been suggested by various statistics to have affected 67 percent of people's health globally. According to WHO (2014), alcohol is the most widely used drug as compared to any others. The rate of addiction is also high as well. For example, in the United States of America, the national survey reports confirmed that approximately 87% of the Americans are alcohol users. And the current drinkers age range from 15 years of age and over. And out of 87% of the Americans, the survey has confirmed that almost 50% are alcohol abusers.

As far as local reports are concerned, alcohol consumption is relatively related to specific social factors. For instance, income, employment, marital status and education change with the amount of alcohol consumption, For example, too much use of alcohol affects one's way of income. Saving can be challenging leading to a constrained way of living. However, as far as gender is concerned, the male gender consume more alcohol as compared to the female gender. This one is evident according to survey statistics whereby over 80% of the male have consumed alcohol in the past ten years. And out of the percentage, 15% of men drink alcohol on a daily sitting. Unlike women, only 73% have used alcohol in the past ten years, and 6.9% drink alcohol at a regular meeting.

Discussion on Alcohol Abuse Approach

Alcohol is a substance that has developed acute problems since 1980. The problems have continued for over decades now, and only well-structured preventions can guarantee its reduced consumption amongst individuals. As far as prevention is concerned, educational programs should be implemented to intervene to promote an informed way of making decisions on alcohol use. The government can consider education-based programs in schools and community health programs as some of the activities that would focus on reducing the use of alcohol in the future or currently.

For example, the Ministry of Health in Canada released a practical tool that organizes programs that deal with alcohol consumption (WHO, 2014). The applications addressed cultural insensitivity and barriers to access health premises when there are concerns about alcohol use. This initiative is a way of therapy whenever there are individuals affected with such issues. The management should introduce address in both adults and adolescent set up for helping to either live healthy or reduce consumption.

Alcohol Control

Essentially, nations should come up with initiatives which control alcohol use. This has to be done by introducing behavioral codes or laying by laws that regulate production, sales, and its use. As seen in the U.S.A, a report from the DEA stated that alcohol use was a contributing factor to various social problems and so it was to be blamed. In 1999, crime rates and poverty were reported to have increased, and so, there was a need to control various sources of production and increase levy tax. Therefore, the government imposed heavy taxation on drugs as it rose from 16% to 18%, and this led to decreased sales in particular (WHO, 2014). The same applied to its production sources where every illegal producer was prohibited, and all the activities involved with the production of alcohol were all controlled by the federal government.

Alcohol consumption guidelines and counseling should be a way of emphasizing the effects of alcohol use. For example, health safety should be the most significant mission that this initiative should aim to accomplish. The advice should cut across youths and pregnant mothers. Tanner-Smith et al. (2015) claim that teenagers should receive guidance in a way that their education is more important than the consumption of alcohol. The same initiative should be taken over to pregnant women who are addicts. According to the reports from Alaska State, 30% percent of pregnant women were significantly affected by over-consumption of alcohol deteriorating their health and that one of a fetus.

Recommendations

In a community with high levels of alcohol use, specific recommendations are necessary for prevention purposes. As far as the department of health is concerned, it should state the following recommendations as part of the prevention factor. One primary proposal is, the Department of Public Health should increase the intensities of awareness on matters of health and alcohol (Marlatt et al., 2005). This way, a campaign would work towards clearly stating the influence of alcohol on personal hygiene.

The second recommendation on the same should be putting the Board of Health in conjunction with Local Government to establish or review some of the strict legislation on alcohol issue (Buettner et al., 2009). The policies may only involve accepting serving of alcohol at an authorized public function or location. These requirements form a strict system on alcohol consumption, therefore, reducing risks of alcohol consumption.

Feedback on the interventions presented

Family members were the first parties to give positive feedback on the introduced interventions concerning alcohol abuse. As far as the effects of alcohol are concerned, they have been on the worse side of deteriorating family members' lives and even increasing rates of poverty within. Families especially mothers have appreciated the effort put by the local government to introduce new policies on alcohol consumption and issues. They have even been supportive explaining that husbands can be in a position of maintaining their household responsibilities throughout the years.

However, on the other hand, there has been indifference in the way other parties think about the introduction of the interventions parse. Some believe the effort put into maintaining these programs are so expensive and cannot be economical on their side without measuring them with their adverse impacts. This has made the taxation to be higher than expected. The matter of concern has revolved on the fees introduced in the institutions which accomplish the preventive measures. Similarly, the population outweighs the number of institutions which cause many negative reviews.

Improvements

Some of the upgrades that the local intervention program needs to implement include ensuring that they are economical and everyone can afford them. The same should be applied when family members are concerned. All members of family fighting addiction should be taken care of and given the preventive measures as required. Also, the number of facilities dealing with prevention measures of alcohol should also be increased in different regions to ensure that they address the issue. Fees to acquire the services should be affordable, and everyone should have a similar opportunity just like other people.

Conclusion

In summary, the report intervenes in different ways where the government should make changes in how people consume alcohol. The most significant mission to be accomplished is to ensure that people become economically and socially stable. Thus, the intervention programs will be able to provide prevention hence lowering the risks of alcohol consumption.
