The debate is a deliberation on whether I would rather wear clown makeup or wear a tutu for one year. Based on these two choices, I believe that it would be better to wear a tutu for one year as opposed to clown makeup. One of the main reasons for my preference is that tutu is a cloth mainly worn by ballet performers and classical dancers. As these are aspects of performance arts that require a high level of dedication and hard work by the performers themselves, I would be able to wear a tutu with pride due to the associations of its use. Secondly, as a skirt, a tutu can be paired with any outfit, allowing me to change my outfits from day to day while still being able to wear it. Most tutus are in the form of very short skirts, which means that by transitioning from one set of clothes to others, I could easily go to different locations and events while having my tutu on. Lastly, I would prefer not to have clown makeup on as it would be hard for people to take me seriously. Clowns usually use clown makeup as an additional instrument of their acts and to make them stand out as comedic entertainers. Hence, those I would interact with would have a hard time engaging in serious conversations with me due to the hilarity of my makeup. A primary counterargument to my decision would be the claim that wearing a tutu would also decrease my capability to exist in official situations due to the inappropriateness of the costume. However, I believe that existing in an open work environment would enable me to express myself creatively even if that involved wearing a tutu. Therefore, I think it would be better to wear a tutu as opposed to clown makeup for a year due to the background of the tutu, its diversity, and it would also help me to express myself creatively.
