Lifelong learning for professional development is crucial as it helps maintain a positive attitude towards education and understand the world around us better. It is important to enable one become a reliable person with high skills and more knowledgeable in the line of work. Any potential employer views such a person as an asset to their business and often leads to promotions and salary increases. In the field of CPAs, it is important to help integrate learning and working experiences in order to enhance their competencies. It is one of the main core pillars to ensure personal development and building a stable career that will be useful for many years. Also, lifelong learning will help develop interpersonal skills and equip students with the required knowledge that will ensure they can adapt quickly to the ever-changing business environment (Arís & Comas 2011). It also enables the people in this profession develop strategic and management skills which are critical for the success in this industry. All the above are various perspectives on lifelong learning from different institutions which is important in the present challenging business environment. 

The University of Michigan offers a broad range of programs in various areas of accounting which are designed to meet the needs of students admitted into this university. It provides modern accounting research tackling issues in the real field through effective and efficient approaches. In the department of accounting, students are required to send an application letter which must include transcripts, the outline of prerequisite course completion, resume, and essays. Also, a non-refundable application fee is required for both domestic and international applicants which are 75 USD and 100 USD respectively. International students are also required to submit copies of academic record which should be certified by the respective institutions attended by the applicant (Els 2009). If English is not the first language of international applicants, a test to demonstrate English competence must be carried out. All applicants should have at least 2.2 overall grade point average in all colleges attended, must have completed pre-business courses and attended an orientation session that is planned by the school management.

The success rate of the accounting graduates who attended the University of Michigan for the past four years is a 100%. Employment positions have been in the local, regional and national accounting firms and even in foreign countries. Other graduates have continued with their academics in popular institutions like Stanford University and Columbia University. The University of Michigan provides quality accounting programs; a pass rate that ranges from 25% to 83.3% for first-time candidates compared to 54.6% pass rate for all first-time candidates in the United States (Redding 2005). This has been enhanced by the quality programs offered by the school and the highly performing entering freshmen. Their accounting program is highly regarded by different employers as it adequately prepares the students to become career accountants. It’s hard to get into the University of Michigan which has a 32.2% acceptance rate and very competitive. There is also a high graduation rate of up to 91% in six years consecutively, and their graduates acquire high post-graduation salary upon completion of the program. 

In conclusion, the most important thing about education is to enable an individual grow every day and become wiser and more skilled. This is because the business and social environment are constantly changing which requires more innovations and research to be able to keep up. Therefore, lifelong learning is essential to any profession for continued development and productivity in their businesses. It enhances critical thinking and their perspectives on issues in the real world to help them keep ahead of their competitors. Lifelong learning equips an individual with resources which allows them to maintain technical skills something that is not taught in a typical classroom situation.
