I found the repetitive geometric patterns that make a structure of concentric designs useful in my creation of a mandala. These patterns are beneficial since they represent the fractal or repetitive composition of the universe and nature. In Eastern cultures, where the first records of design and use of mandalas are held, these have as their objective the cessation of thought and mind, aspiring to reach a meditative state. Also, the design of these mandalas contemplated a central circle of stone that was connected to a larger circle through radii or dividing lines, made with the same element.

Indeed, I learned something about myself while reading the article. For instance, I found out that I can create mandalas that can be used as spiritual instruments. The thought came after I made a mandala that resembles the designs attributed to Buddhism. Also, I found out that similar geometric representations have been found in other cultures and with different uses, which surpasses spiritual functions.

There are numerous ways that I can utilize the mandala to help other. For example, I can use the creation as a therapeutic resource to help others. A geometric figure restricts the fact that the design always starts at the center, and the rest can be replaced by symbols that resemble them, such as flowers or crosses. These representations are an externalization of the collective unconscious and the expression of the totality of being. Therefore, they can be used as a therapeutic resource to work the emotional aspects that are repressed or unrecognized.

Besides, the use of chosen geometric shapes and colors in mandala provides information about certain emotional states of the person. When creating a mandala, a person starts from some basic guidelines and prepares to draw and color it. Also, if a person visualizes the mandala, he or she can induce a state of relaxation. Overall, mandala can be a useful therapeutic tool and offer interventions for mental health.
