The concept of freedom is a hotly contested subject in the US. Different interpretations of freedom have emerged over time, where its founders saw it as being free from political despotism and royalists. Today, freedom is seen as the power or the right to act, think or speaking without being restricted or restrained. Americans value freedom more since it gives them the right to be whom they want to be. Freedom is the pillar of the US' greatness, and many Americans agree that they enjoy freedom more than any other country in the world.

Americans' fascination with freedom is obvious with people attaching a different meaning to it. Most of the 21st generation in the US associate freedom to move. Movement is a special aspect of freedom to Americans since it offers a great experience by allowing citizens to move from one state to another without the need of a passport. Surprisingly, someone would expect equality and security aspects of freedom to be given first priorities. A study conducted in the US showed that most of the black Americans and Euro-Americans viewed vehicles as the freedom they wanted ( Chapter 7, n.d) . The blacks and Euro-Americans consider vehicles as the most useful thing to them as it facilitates their movement. The working class believes that cars have enabled them to enjoy the freedom of movement. Owning a vehicle is a sign of class and good life in the US (Patterson, 2001). African Americans see cars as the first victory over the Jim Crow trains and buses. For Euro-Americans working in factories, these cars are of great freedom to them since they have made it easier to get to work and compete with the status of that are not offered by the jobs they are doing.

Every person in the US has a different meaning of freedom, and the societies have already adapted to it as a way of life and liberty to them is alive and lives among them. In America, democracy is more than value, and it is what brings an orderly culture offering to mean to all the aspects and nature of freedom itself (Patterson, 2001). Despite the fact of some elements of freedom considered to be shaken or not in the right state it is clear that America will soon lose its dignity concerning freedom if the problem is not taken care of. The area which is making the meaning of freedom in the US unstable is in the aspect where they tried to define freedom as a whole in negative terms.

In consideration to a class of different nature, freedom goes a further direction concerning its meaning. Like for instance, when it comes to the aspect of social activities in the US, being free to raise your children freely without restrictions, having a loving relationship and caring for other is what freedom means to them ( Chapter 7, n.d) . Another class of people that has a different meaning of freedom is the ones who want the freedom of being able to choose what he or she wants and where a person is free to do what they please without being restricted. They also consider freedom to be the right of making their own decisions without being restricted as the meaning of freedom.

When it comes to gender, women in America tend to feel or experience freedom when they are given the right to access jobs anywhere in the country without being looked down or underrated. They also define freedom as the experience of being treated equally with respect and being paid equally as men but not low just because they are women. To them, that is the meaning of freedom (Patterson, 2001). On the other hand, freedom to men means being able to access resources and property to provide for their families; If they are denied freedom of land and other resources then they will not be able to provide for their families adequately, and this will create dispute among them ( Chapter 7, n.d) . It is clear that freedom in the US means various things to different groups and different classes in America.

In conclusion, it is clear that freedom is indeed alive in America and every person has a right to enjoy freedom. Freedom brings about the sense of belonging, and it also makes a country work in harmony contributing much to the development and the economy of the country as well.
