Mental health refers to the brain's wellbeing and the ability to perform cognitive and behavioral activities. It also describes how people feel, think and behave. There are various disorders associated with mental health. The first one is an anxiety disorder which makes a person restless and too nervous towards certain situations or objects. A person having this condition will try to avoid particular people, objects, or places that cause anxiety. Mood disorder is the second condition associated with mental health. A person suffering from this disorder will have a significant mood variation, extreme fear of certain objects or people, and many depressive moments. The third disorder which affects mental health is schizophrenia. A person with this condition may have fragmented thoughts and experience difficulty when processing information.
There are various advantages a person derives from having good mental health. First, mental health enables a person to correctly coordinate body activities. The nervous system plays an enormous task in ensuring other body parts perform various tasks without fail or getting into confusion. Secondly, mental wellbeing enables people to avoid stress in life (Faulkner, 2017) . A person with a healthy mental capacity will handle stressing factors well and thus not likely to fall into depression. A person experiencing depression can engage in dangerous activities which endanger the general health and life. Third, mental health enables a person to avoid other physical diseases like stroke and heart attack. A healthy nervous system ensures that each body part is functioning appropriately while detecting any abnormality which hinders those processes. Lastly, mental health enables a person to relate and communicate with other people appropriately. A person with a healthy brain will get and interpret different cues and signs from other people before giving the correct feedback.
