Compare how assessment at the macro level is similar and dissimilar than at the micro level.

At a macro level, the assessment focuses on making positive changes affecting a large number of persons rather than on individuals (Kirst-Ashman & Hull, 2008). However, assessment at a micro-level is on individual client systems whereby problems will be identified then client’s potential strengths recognized and finally a discussion of assessment instruments assessing individual characteristics is done ( Fricke, 2017).

Explain how you would gather the needed information at the macro level.

Gathering information at a macro level can be done through public libraries and databases, the easiest being the internet through verified sources such as the Economic Success Clearing House and The Community Tool Box. The information collected is vital in improving social worker skills in planning, assessing, and evaluation ( Hernandez, 2013).

Identify a situation where a client system (micro or macro) may be reluctant to engage in the assessment process.

The problem of decision making may cause a client system to be reluctant about talking to a social worker. For example, an individual with gambling issues refusing to acknowledge they have a problem.

Recommend 2 specific skills your colleague may use to engage individuals or communities who may be reluctant to accept social work services or participate in the assessment process.( please provide each skill separately.

To counter reluctance by clients, a social worker may opt to align with the client’s indifference on perspectives. The client will feel you know where they are coming from, therefore forging a relationship to move forward. Also, a social worker may reveal to the client that the fact of them coming forward means they have an issue they need to solve. An example is individuals addicted to smoking.
