Military technology has witnessed significant advancements during the fight between U.S and Mexico and the Civil war following the rivals’ urge to be victorious. Notably, major changes occurred in the improvement of arsenals and military transport machinery to help soldiers penetrate the battleground safely and efficiently to implement their strategies. Among the changes were the introduction of long-range rifles that could shoot an enemy from a long distance. Contrary to the muskets, previous soldiers who fought using muskets that carried just one bullet and could only shoot a distance of 250 yards, the long-range rifles carried much ammunition and could be used to shoot an enemy who is 1,000 yards away. In addition to the rifles, the military technology also changed concerning the modes of transport used to access battlegrounds: both the U.S, Mexico and other countries involved in the civil war designed bulletproof vehicles and speed jets to break beyond the enemy lines.

Despite advancements in military technology, the U.S still emerged superior over Mexico in specific military technological edges. Specifically, the U.S designed a submarine which they used to launch missiles from under the water and guard their water space contrary to Mexico whose technology was not competent enough to attain such a massive military arsenal. The U.S also surpassed Mexico in military communication technology following their use of sophisticated gadgets that could not be intercepted by the enemy. The U.S succeeded in inventing telegram that generals used to monitor their soldiers in the battlefield. Contrary to Mexican soldiers that had to travel long distances to deliver pick and deliver orders, the U.S President Abraham Lincoln and his military generals used telegrams to make orders and direct soldiers on various military strategies.

Military technology made the battlefield more deadly to U.S soldiers compared to their Mexican counterparts due to their embracement of new weapons and fighting techniques. The Civil War occurred on the verge of military advancement when many countries were moving from ancient to modern fighting techniques. In particular, the U.S was experimenting with various technologies to design arsenals that who position them as the world’s Super Power. Following the raw knowledge used to create the weapons, some of them become ineffective hence making them U.S soldiers vulnerable to the Mexican troops and other rivals in the battlefield. Further, the incompetence of the soldiers who operated the technologies also led to mistakes on the battlefield such as accidental explosions. The use of military technology also made the battlefield deadly to the U.S soldiers due to overconfidence. Following their possession of superior weapons such as bombs and overhead missiles, the U.S soldiers were overconfident during the fight hence making mistakes that betrayed their position and strategies at the battlefield.

Besides technology, the Civil War battlefield was made lethal through various factors that affected the soldiers’ operations. Hunger emerges as a factor that made battlefield dangerous for the soldier’s survival. Following the long period that the war lasted, most of the troops ran out of supplies such as food and water. The devastating conditions caused by hunger reduced the soldier’s motivation in the fight considering the high number of comrades who died due to a lack of such basic needs. The Civil War was also made dangerous due to the emergence of infectious diseases that infected the soldiers. Notably, most soldiers suffered from diseases such as tuberculosis that rendered many soldiers vulnerable considering their deteriorating health. Additionally, trust and battlefield preservation made the Civil war lethal considering the competence of some troops. Following the devastating conditions of the war, some soldiers betrayed their comrades due to cowardice leading to a discovery of their plans preceded by ambushes by enemies.
