New technologies like educational software, 3D printing (machine learning), Augmented Reality (AI), 4G LTE, Bluetooth, data bundles, general packet radio service (GPRS) and many more are increasingly meeting the demands of the fourth generation of learners. Following this evolution, m-technology views learners as active participants and in this learning setting, precedence is given to collaboration and sharing of information in a resource-rich environment. In this case, lecturers will need to first acquire new technologies and pedagogical skills to enable them to transform their learning content to the so called Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK). By so doing, they will be enhancing learner-centered learning approaches. In this paper, mobile technology includes mobile computers like laptops, mobile devices, and wireless tools of communication.

A mobile and wireless class for the future will mean that lectures are conducted using mobile technological devices with enhanced Internet connectivity. By using Wi-Fi, the lecturer will be communicating with the learners in an environment that is learner-centered and thus, are tailored to meet the individual needs of each student. Moreover, lectures will stimulate formats; utilize navigation and techniques that support blended learning. The lecture will give students an opportunity to undertake user-led education, collaboration with peers and construct knowledge beyond the classroom.

Students using the m-technology can be able to ask questions via email that affords asynchronous communication and easy storage of exchanges. Answering of students’ questions will entail the use of audio recording feature where personal and quality feedback is promoted by educators. Most smartphones have an audio recording feature built and this enables the student to record their questions and forward to the lecturer who later provides an answer. The use of adaptive learning software is replacing textbooks in classrooms and students tackling particular subjects are aided with tailor-made computer programs that assist them in answering their questions.

Today, assignments are sent via email to the lecturer and in the coming years, they will be done using more sophisticated technologies. These technologies could be 4D in that, the lecturer would be marking the student’s paper and virtually share and discuss with the student on the areas that were not fully met in answering questions. Such virtual happenings will promote the student’s learning because they are aware of their faults at the time the lecturer is marking their paper. Hence, are able to remember and understand the assignment questions hence, will use this later in his or her future workplace environment. Assignments would also be uploaded to a Learning Management System such as the Blackboard; which is in use today. This will promote efficiency for both educators and learners. Assignments will be on the Blackboard and the lecturer is also able to upload material such as lecture notes, lecture guide, group work and solutions for students to access at any given point and time.

Projects will be performed by students online and they can be anywhere with Internet connectivity. Through the use of digital devices, students are able to solve problems easily because they share different ideas and knowledge and research on the most effective solution that will meet all their needs, as a group. Virtual conferencing can also be made possible for PhD students to defend their thesis in a manner that promotes convenience for all parties involved in the learning process.

Administering of exams using m-technology will entail students having fast and reliable connectivity that facilitates answering of questions as the lecturer marks them. As such, the exam will be conducted on an individual basis to facilitate acquisition of results immediately the exam is over and thus, learners will be given real-time results to facilitate their next move. In such instances, 3D images will be displayed on the lecturers screen and this will mean reduced timelines

Educators and technologists assert that by incorporating a wireless and mobile technology will need designing and developing pedagogically sound opportunities and environments enhancing learning activities. As such, mobile (m-technology learning setting is better than a traditional class because it has greater efficiencies and effectiveness and increases individual support and opportunities for personal development. It is also a better method as it enhances collaborative interaction and communicating, which will result in students gaining greater exposure of technology.
