The unfair treatment of the people of color should not be happening in the 21st Century due to the need for inclusivity and diversity. The hypocrisy witnessed in places that should appreciate diversity such as schools and the entire education institutions have failed. Although the reading is informative, the revelation of the mentioned aspects makes me uncomfortable.

It is evident that appreciating cultures from different backgrounds leads to peace and cohesion in professional settings such as educational institutions. The white supremacy mentality is still an issue in modern American society (Butler, 2018). From the reading, the white dominates the professional settings and allocates menial roles to the people of color. Christianity is also an obstacle towards appreciating people from different backgrounds and cultures (Beckwith, 2017). Christians confine non-Christians to damnation due to the belief that their culture does not conform to Jesus' teachings. Ascertaining that human beings are culturally competent contributes to the need for the continued learning of different cultures to realize global cultural inclusivity and cohesion.

Kivel's article requires readers to appreciate all cultures regardless of the difference in doctrines that define such practices. The demand might be an insult to people from different religions since the teachings and rules in such denominations are different. Another problem with the article is that the author perceives white Americans as selfish. Some white Americans have a passion for ending racism and realizing inclusivity in the society. Generalizing the Americans on the issue is off-track.
