My definition of art is anything that is out to express something in a unique way. When somebody decides to express their feelings or their opinion is a way that is out of the obvious, they attract people’s opinion and their point is delivered home. Therefore, personally, I consider the performance of musicians as an art because they express their feelings through music. The same case applies to the people who demonstrate on the streets so that their point is taken seriously. Other people express their feelings through drawing while others do it through performance such as stage performance on poetry or music. However, it is not all art that qualifies to be a good art because some works are appreciated more by people than others. Some arts are more creative than others. It is the level of creativity that qualifies a work to be good art. Moreover, it is this reason that makes music and drawings attract more people and get them feel like this are the only arts in the world. For example, the work by Leonardo da Vinci whereby he drew the fetus in a womb is a good illustration of what art is all about because he expresses his emotions clearly through the nature of humanity. Caravaggio also presents his emotions through his art on the beheading of John the Baptist. Modern performing artists such as Jay-z express their feelings through music and rap.

The characteristics of work of art uniqueness, skill, beauty, fulfilled intent and inherent meaning. Any work of art should be beautiful and appealing to the eyes of a good number of people. If it is a performance, it should be beautiful regarding the word used. The words are the ones that attract people to the art that they intend to be celebrated. Therefore, any art should be captivating in their essence. Secondly, art should be skillful and technical because from the first look of art; one can determine whether or not the work is well thought through or not. Therefore, if an artist wishes that their art should be recognized, then they should put a lot of skill. Excellent skills bring beauty, and they make the artist feel good about their work. It is by feeling good about their work that makes them confident to push the work to the public (In Facos, 2015). Any work of art should have a meaning behind it because everything that one does that does not have to mean is not taken seriously. Therefore, before an artist decides that they would like to do any work of art, they should have goals that will guide them on what they intend to achieve through the art. They can decide that their art should tell a story or make a particular statement. Every art should have its uniqueness, which should be well displayed in the art. The way of depicting the art should also be unique because that is what sells an art to the people. Unique arts tell different and new stories all the time because people are used to the same old stories that at times make people feel that art is monotonous. However, if one wishes that individuals recognize their works, they should come up with new stories that they tell on their arts.

Lastly, good art should be fulfilled intent or in other words, the question of what the artist is trying to say should not emerge. Through the art, the theme and the emotions expressed in the art should be the same. An artist should struggle to ensure that they capture the emotions of their viewers as well as trying to make sure that they strengthen the understanding of the art. When people know what the artist is saying, then they enjoy the art even more unlike when they do not understand a thing, and they just sit as they wait for the next person to explain to them. Modern poets such as Claudia Rankine present their message with a lot of intent such that one clearly understands their message without having to ask the next person what they are trying to say. They win a big audience because their message is clearly. In the modern art on painting and drawing, artists such as Henry Matisse and Frank Stella present their works with fulfilled intent too. There is the doubt that their actions speak for themselves.

During the post-impressionism period, the young painters expressed their emotions using deeper symbols (Brodskai︠a︡ 2010). Their works are celebrated even in the modern world because it makes them feel unique about themselves and their paintings. They used clear but unique colors that were characterized by a sense of serene feeling. For example, an artist in the impression post period referred to as Paul Gauguin used unique colors to paint the portrait Mary, the mother of Jesus. The painting speaks for itself because one does not need the next person to explain to them what the picture means. George Seurat also from the post –impression era presented his work on circus sideshow. The fading colors used to create an environment here one feels that they are enjoying what is presented before their eyes.
