According to the American Psychological Association, Classroom management refers to the process that enables the creation and maintenance of appropriate behaviors in students and teachers in a classroom setting ("Classroom Management," 2017). The sole purpose of creating and implementing the management of classes is to enable and facilitate strategies that enhance behavior that is prosocial and ultimately increases the engagement of student academics. Such classroom management strategies employ principles, which work across entire subject areas bringing into effect efficacy regarding grade enhancement and overall student perception improvement. In implementing a tiered model that avails support on an extensive scale, programs of classroom behavior management become efficient and easily implemented.

The implementation of sound cultures enables students to attain upright behavior and efficiency in their studies. Here, culture stands for different aspects in a classroom setting. For one, it may entail the buildup of a community regarding respect, bonding and other attributes that may persist in a classroom setting for a while because for a culture to be recognized, its attributes need deliberate application over time. Ultimately, culture takes many forms and may be harmful and demeaning or can be one that is positive and reinforcing. Applying a reinforcement culture in the classroom leads to positive student results, and this subsequently leads to high achievement. The first and most significant culture is that of maintaining a high expectation for behavior (Teach for America, 2011). Not only are the expectations for student behavior relevant, but also those of the teacher regarding asserting authority over the students and consequently garnering student respect. Expectations as a culture are very efficient since they ensure every member of a particular entity, in this case, the classroom knows how to undertake activities with minimal supervision and coercion. Particularly, the culture of sound student behavior is of utmost importance. Another worthwhile culture is that of creating effective rules and consequences (Teach for America, 2011). Rules are imperative in a classroom setting. Sometimes, rules draw the line between sanity and insanity. In this culture, it is the work of the teacher to determine the rules and consequences, sensitize the students concerning them and consistently implement them impartially. Doing this ensures the culture of rules, and subsequently, discipline is promoted ultimately ensuring the smooth running of a classroom.

Classroom management is highly significant in all aspects of teaching. Virtually every educational methodology and technology depends on effective classroom management techniques. From the learning objectives and outcomes to the teaching and learning strategies, efficient cultures are the cornerstone of the teaching and learning experience. Therefore, the importance of effective classroom management should be sensitized on all educational personnel. One important benefit of classroom management is the increase of student success through the creation of a learning environment that is orderly. More to this is the fact that it enhances the academic competencies and skills of students as well as developing their emotional growth and social agility. In classroom management, the realities of productivity and cooperation become apparent. By effectively managing the learning environment, there is the creation of collaboration, and among the students, such cooperation is critical when it comes to their academic achievement and overall social growth. Therefore, classroom management is of high importance and through effective implementation can either make or break student academic achievement.

In conclusion, classroom management is the ultimate way in which the academic and behavioral tendencies of students can be effectively managed. For effective classroom management, the teacher needs to have clear and concise rules that are straight to the point. Moreover, teachers should not ignore student behaviors that go against stipulated rules as this may lead to rebelliousness in students. Overall, classroom management remains to be an efficient tool that guarantees positive academic growth.
