As an elementary school teacher, I continually focus on the relationships I have with my students to ensure student-centered learning. For instance, I normally allow my students to make homework assignment options depending on their needs and abilities. Moreover, to guarantee student-centered learning, I give my students open-ended questions together with group activities. This style of teaching ensures that my classroom is more of a community with lots of idea sharing, communicating and learning from each other. Similarly, I always aim at being a positive role model for my students. Hence, I extensively make use of active learning by engaging learners in reading, problem-solving, and discussion to enhance analysis, synthesis, and assessment of what they learn. Moreover, I have realized that through active learning, my students get the chance to receive feedback on how well they comprehended the materials learnt.

I believe that a teacher must embrace diversity and have a wide range of views and ideas. To ensure this, I have my lesson plans flexible enough and inclusive for students with special needs including those with Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. Normally, students work at different paces. Therefore, I create for them different paced tasks to suit their learning styles and needs. This makes them gain a deeper comprehension of the subject matter. Other than having good relationships with my learners, I like having proper communication, respect, and trust for parents. As such, I strive to understand their points of view and goals, which ensures the development of mutual respect.

Finally, my philosophy compels me not to be stagnant, but to embrace lifelong learning. As a result, I continually build my wealth of professional knowledge by pursuing additional courses and attending workshops and seminars with colleagues. This ensures the exchange of concepts and theories and the learning of new ideas to impart in students the best up-to-date information.
