Observation Findings: How to Make the Most of Your Observations

A critical look at the class revealed that the students were motivated to learn. This was evidenced by the high performance in the class, the class behavior, and the high self-esteem amongst the students. The setting of the class was in a way that motivated the students to learn. The science stimulus materials were arranged in a way that helped students become aware of the world that is around them. It was evident that the tutor engaged the students in the process of creating displays. In my view, the displays enabled the students to understand what the teachers in the classroom offered. A look around the classroom showed that there were some ideas that the teacher could use in the room. This was a source of inspiration for the students. In my opinion, a combination of displays and normal teachings enabled the teacher to accommodate both the visual learners as well as those who learn by listening. 

I believe that the standard for teaching science to young students requires the development of strong and sustained relationships between the students and the teacher. In this observation, it was clear that the teacher was able to ground the relationship in knowledge as well as awareness of the similarities and differences in the backgrounds, experiences, and the current views of the students towards science. The teacher belief is that all the students can learn science, which was evident in the presentations made by the teacher. The diversity of the student population required the teacher to have a belief that all the students can learn science. The students also believed that they could learn. The belief of the teacher was evident in how they focused and supported inquiries during the interactions with the students.
