History
Advancement in technology and children’s access to internet begun in the late 20 th century.
Parents were initially restricting the children from using the internet, but this became a major issue when internet access became more accessible.
Previous attempts to solve the problem has been trying to prevent children from accessing computers used to access the internet.
The extent of the Problem
Uncontrolled use of the internet has exposed children to many social and psychological problems calling for the need for urgent engagement by the parents.
Cyberbullying and harassment are some of the leading problems that children face while using the internet.
Exposure to inappropriate content, such as pornography is also a problem that affects children using the internet.
The Effects of not solving the Problem
If the problem is not solved, children will be subjected to cyberbullying and harassment which can then lead to psychological problems such as stress and depression.
Also, failing to solve the problem can lead to children being exposed to inappropriate content at a young age, and this would lead to erosion of moral values amongst teens.
Connecting the Argument
The Internet exposes children to many dangers which, when not controlled, can lead to severe consequences. While the internet is filled with potential learning materials for kids, there is a need for parents to monitor their use due to the dangers it can expose the children to.
The opponents of this issue argue that the internet has a lot of learning materials for children and that there is no need to monitor them. However, these groups fail to consider the other side effects such as bullying and harassment that children could get exposed to.
Conclusion
The advancement in technology has played a key role in access to information both to the children and adults. While many children have access to the internet currently, there is a need to have parents monitor how they use it because of the potential dangers involved.
