Pastoral refers to the way of life of a shepherd and also pastoralists who usually move with their livestock from one place to the other in a large area of land, depending on the seasons and the availability of feeds and water. In the piece Pastoral art has brought out the lifestyle of rural subjects in the countryside who are the shepherds, cowherds and also the other workers who are usually highly romanticized in an unrealistic manner. The Pastoral art has also helped me to describe the art of music that shows the shepherds life in a manner that is highly idealized this is included in the piece in the music measure number 6. The idealization of objects and materials in the piece has helped to bring out realism. The pastoral art character piece that I have composed talks about the shepherds and pastoralists. Shepherds are people who look after livestock by herding them in the fields and move with them from one place to another in search of better pastures and water. This is included in the music measure number 11.
In music shepherds and pastoralists are seen as people who are patient and wise for looking after very large numbers of livestock requires a lot of patience and keenness. The shepherds move across large pieces of land that have different terraces and appearances which is such an adventure for them and in some cases terrifying, this is included in the music measure number 20. The description of the landscape by the shepherds and pastoralists helps to give a clear understanding of the countryside in the piece as a place with large tracks of land. The countryside is usually habited by farmers and shepherds and people working in the farms. The pastoral in the piece also helps to capture and inspire a particular audience who are particularly interested in the shepherd’s way of life; this is included in the music measure number 25.

The piece also helps to depict the difference in urban lifestyle and the rural countryside lifestyle which shows a clear pastoral art that has been included in the music measure 28. The rural lifestyle has been shown as one that requires a lot of endurance and hard work for there is a lot of manual work that needs to be done in the farms and fields. The composed piece of pastoral art music also depicts the romance experience of a shepherd as a tough one. For its hard for a shepherd or pastoralists to settle down and work on a relationship for they are always on the move and only settle down to get some rest which is included in the music measure 45. The pastoral art also helps to give realism of the lifestyle in the rural areas showing the areas appearance and giving the activity that takes place in the area.
The pastoral piece also brings out the use of symbolism in music for it depicts the true way of life of shepherds and the atmosphere in which they carry out their day to day activities in. The piece shows that the natural environment usually plays a huge role in the composition of different character pieces; this is included in the music measure 40. My piece has been majorly influenced by the fascinating nature in which shepherds go about their businesses while moving around with the animals to find feed and water which is included in the music measure number 51. The piece shows the mood of the shepherd through the tone in which I have written which is shown in the music measure number 56. The shepherd is painted as being happy of his exploits since he enjoys moving with his animals from one place to the other exploring the area. The joy in every field trip that the shepherd makes with his animals is clearly shown in the pastoral music piece; this is shown in the music measure number 61. The piece also shows that the main factor that is considered by the shepherds before they move is the change in seasons therefore they are usually out in the fields chasing the season in order to catch feeds and water. This is a clear indication of pastoral art in the music piece.
