Since the conceptualization of the United States of America, there have been numerous structural and cultural changes; some stemming from adaptation, while others creation. While the country morphs over time, structural trends represent relationships with other societies, communities, and organizations, while cultural trends form patterns of social attitudes, beliefs, and values. Such developments have made America well known globally besides being an economic powerhouse within the last century. Still growing stronger, America continues to pioneer major patterns of cultural and structural changes that reverberate on a global scale. From revolutionizing how we communicate through the invention of the internet, to taking control of eating pattern and mechanism, America continues to be a beacon of light in regards to change.

One example that represents major structural and cultural change is the creation of the fast-food industry through – among other franchises – McDonald's. Such a franchise has brought about immense structural changes with one major pattern being technical complexity and sophistication. The introduction of McDonald's wrote the rules of the fast-food business. Consequently, structural changes occurred through the use of not only lean management strategies but also the incorporation of technologies that made production easier and faster. Technology, therefore, affects how we carry out our everyday endeavors through such introductions as smart household devices among others.

Culturally, McDonald's represents major shifts and alignments. Nonetheless, the most predominant one is the increased tolerance of cultural diversity. With sublets the world over, McDonald's has not only altered cultural inclinations in selected regions but has applied its ethos universally. Now, people in the Far East can enjoy the American culture of having a burger. Even in India, where individuals uphold religious piety that considers beef sacred, a burger is available. Ideally, this is cultural diversity and tolerance at its highest degree.
