a. Adjusting to my life in terms of subjective well-being, diversity, contexts, and / or thinking critically.
For the last one month since I joined college, I have discovered a lot of what I need to do in order to cope with high demanding academic life in order for to successfully graduate by the end of my course in a Diploma in Clinical Psychology. After admission, I had a successful Orientation that was conducted by all college departments to all fresh students. I now understand the whole map of the college; and am able to locate all the amenities on college, all my lecture halls without any problem. Also, I already feel at home here because all staff and lecturers are warm and helpful. I already have couple of new friends in my class that I study and hang out with. Fully equipped library makes it easy for me to read and research for my class assignment. At home, my parents have been very supportive; they extended a car to me and thus am able to drive myself to college. I get to college and attend all my classes in time, and rush for my part time job.

b. Balancing your priorities, specifically with home, work, school, recreation, and / or family
Working, and later on joined college, time management have been a challenge for me. My daily schedule is very tight and draining. The tight schedule has made it difficult for me to attend to all my responsibilities at home, college and at work; leading to deliberate adjustments in order to at least meet my priorities. I am managing my priorities fairly well this far. Am grateful to a very supportive family; my parents and two siblings. I have been exempted from other many family chores at home so that I can have more time on my studies. I leave home early for college, and report to work from noon. Getting to college early enough, and traversing the state from college to work could not be any easy were it not for the car I got for free from my supportive parents. I neither go to college nor work on weekends, this helps me free up time to spend at home with my parents and siblings. On Sundays, after church, I hang out at the movies with my girlfriend.
c. Developing your identity, specifically self-esteem, self-concept, ethnicity, and / or gender
Over the past few months of working and at the same time going to college, I have grown into a more responsible person. I have been forced to readjust, put in more effort, time and commitment in order to manage both school and work. My confident personality and responsible demeanor persuaded my classmates to appoint me as a class representative. I get along well with my classmates; and more attracted to bright and hardworking peers. In the last few weeks, I had a crush on one pretty, bright, fellow African American Lady in my class, who we’ve since agreed to be just friends since I already have girlfriend.
d. Coping with stress, specifically social support, multiple coping strategies, and / or self-control
Occasionally, the stress that comes with being overwhelmed by work and studies is unbearable. Reading for assignments, and preparation for examinations, is sometimes mentally draining given the limited amount of time that I have to juggle between work and college. By the end of the day, am mostly fatigued both mentally and physically. However I don’t let myself drain in the stress that comes with all this. I have developed a positive attitude in what I am doing, college and work. I have purposed to put in more effort in order to manage both of the two engagements; college and work because they both are very important in my future success. My family too helps me a lot, they understand how stressful it is for me and they I have let me not do home chores for now. My food is made, my clothes are washed and all I do is bath, eat, sleep, work and study. Besides my parents, I have other trustful mentors led by my church pastor who I consult whenever experiencing difficulties on issues ranging from relationships, school and work. At school, I already have handful of good, supportive friends who we share and solve class assignments through group discussions. When I leave college for work, they brief me on class tests, handouts and examination schedule. Lastly, my employer allows time to rest on the weekend. I use this time to rest, unwind, go to church on Sunday and clear any pending assignments and personal errands I may have besides having time for my relationship with Sandra.
